2 weeks early methinks. I live in this lattitude north shore lake Erie. Lake Huron Rainbows are about ready to run but still a bit early. Worth the outing if a nice day but no fun in the cold wind.

it was a Laker. Light colored spots on a darker back ground gave it away. That other guy was cox sure it was a brown. He was wrong.

You've done pretty well actually. Just curious, what lures have been tried that don't work?

Thanks, yeah… it can be a grind! It’s not so much lures that “don’t work,” as they aren’t working at a given time or place… for instance, casting a kastmaster, spinner, blade bait, or jig (etc)… all have caught fish this winter… casting them for 15 minutes+…. Then trying another lure in the exact same spot a few casts later then getting a fish.

Have you ever tried it from a boat? It can be a ton ton of fun jigging on top of lakers

@@punman0213 yes, and it’s a ton of fun…though I have not in the nyc reservoirs as you’re not permitted to launch outside boats, only preregistered row boats!

@@FishinAccomplishedThanks. I don't recall seeing you catch a laker on anything other than a spoon or a spinner. what kind of jigs have been successful for lakers in that reservoir?
