20 years ago I was 40, and my friend had died. I was having a terrible time sleeping, and I turned on this new show. It was a mess, but I still watched. Then you finished up with Coldplay, my friend's favorite band. I cried and went to bed, and slept and dreamt of my friend at home, where he wanted to be. Thank you Jimmy and Coldplay for 20 years of sleep.

I watched this show 20 years ago and tonight's show was strangely emotional to watch. 20 years ago, I was in an abusive marriage and at my lowest point. I had never heard of Coldplay before and I remember loving that performance and my husband made fun of them. I ended up leaving that marriage, opening a business, and I became a HUGE Coldplay fan. Now my kids are grown, I'm very happily remarried (15 happy years so far), and we RV full-time. I even have a Coldplay playlist! I'm honestly the happiest I've ever been! Life just goes on and sometimes you don't realize just how much has changed.

Me too!! I am 73 years old and turned my daughter onto Coldplay some years ago. She went to see them 3 or 4 times within a few weeks 5 or 6 years ago. Then we both went to Chicago to Soldier Field to see them. We live in Indianapolis. I wanted to go see them last year at Soldier Field again but I have CRPS and am in loads of pain and wouldn't be able to walk to my seat there, let alone being able to ride for 2-1/2 hours to get to Chicago. I was so very bummed out. I so love Coldplay. They are fantastic......

I grew up in the 60's when there was such an explosion of great music. It was hard to pick a favorite because so many were so great. Coldplay is my favorite of the younger generations. His music touches the heart and soul. I love so many of his songs and him, too. Except, I didn't care for how he came onstage at the Superbowl halftime show. He looked weird, bending over like that and hanging his arm down, lol! My google profile is my mom. At age 102, she is becoming a painter and I had to create an online persona for her. She is amazing.

Gorgeous version of the song and so touching that they put it together for Jimmy. Got a little teary when Jimmy brought out the clarinet. Congrats on 20 years JK, your show is awesome.

I should know this better as I'm a pianist myself, but others in the thread have identified it as a bass clarinet, which made sense to me as the sound wasn't quite the same to my ear as a sax and my half-educated idea of a bass clarinet was that it looked sax-like. Again, it's cringe that I don't know this definitively on my own, but I'm putting my faith in the consensus here. Perhaps you can point out why they're wrong?

@@weilim10 - You're not a nerd, so you can relax. You're just not right. It is Jimmy's instrument of choice, the bass clarinet, which he has played on stage and on camera several times before.

Every time I watch this performance, I get choked up. It was because of this very performance, that I purchased the album this song was from. It was so moving and powerful. Congratulations Jimmy for 20 years, and here's to 20 more.
