Coldplay - Magic (feat. Sabrina Carpenter) (Radio 1's Big Weekend 2024) 

Sabrina Carpenter is having a huge year, first she’s singing with Taylor Swift and now she’s singing with Coldplay!

Their voices came together really well at some points, I'm guessing they didn't get much rehearsal time together before this to make it perfect

i think they both sound amazing on their own! it was a little rough in the beginning but i really found the bridge seamless 😊

for the wind, the volume of the crowd, and possibly the short notice planning, they did exceptional!!!

They're not singing the same key but they're definitely not off key. Sabrina sang it higher bcuz if she sang it the way Chris did, his voice would get buried or hers would, and that wouldn't really add much flavor to the song. Sabrina has a much softer voice compared to Chris so it doesn't create the best harmony but it doesn't sound bad to me at all. I don't know why y'all are mad tbh

I think the harmonies are actually good!! it's hard to harmonize with this man's tone and Sabrina did well, in my opinion, and it's fully live so it's waaay harder

I don't think their voices are a good match 😅 both very good on their own but they sound kinda off together 🙈

Either something was off with their in-ear monitors or time was short for rehearsal (if there was any at all) or something like that. Because it was clear something was making them struggle with the key of the song and it was most noticeable during harmonies, of which there were unfortunately a lot for them to do. Props to them for doing their best to navigate it though. Really awesome that this happened at all.

It's really cool seeing Sabrina adjust her voice through the duet to try and match Coldplays more whispy and grounded voice.

as a sabrina stan imo they couldve had a better song choice to do a duet, i think harmonizing would be better for songs like fix you or yellow or everglow. magic is better to be sung either in unison or just one octave higher than chris' tone in which i think sabrina could do bc her lower register is actually so good and could just switch it up with the high notes for the bridge. nonetheless, imagine singing with coldplay and being complimented by chris martin on stage! im so proud of her and happy for her. they did great either way.

Just wanna say that I appreciate Jonny's guitar!!! I love it that they don't drown his guitar tone & sound he needs to shine a lot more ❤

Great set by Coldplay This was a painful duet though. Key was wrong for their voices, bad song selection. Princess of China would’ve been a far better choice

I absolutely love sabrina and I think it was great ❤ her set was also good and think it was nice chris to invite her on and give her a spot. I completely disagree with everyone saying “she ruined the song” and “they don’t sound good”, I think they sounded alright, not amazing but it was one song like geez guys! I absolutely loved it and love Chris for giving her a chance ❤

The harmony doesn't work. I'm curious if it would be better if they swapped out their harmonies. The sound fine individually. Maybe more rehearsal.

Love Coldplay but as others have commented, their voices don't match and ruins the song sadly. For voices that match - watch Dua Lipa and Chris Stapleton at the ACM. Wow

You can tell she’s holding back and hesitating. They obviously didn’t rehearse in person. She’s a great singer and she definitely wasn’t off key like everyone is saying. The harmonies were correct. It’s just not blended well.

This was rough 😬 I feel like Sabrina needs to strengthen her vocals. Too much breathy singing behind loud backing tracks. She can get there, Taylor used to be really weak singing live but she honed it over the years.

It's hard to harmonize with Chris Martins voice. He has a unique tone that only artists like Beyonce / Rihanna can complement with. Sabrina ruined it here sorry.
