Props to Cole on this live performance. Most people won't notice the key is very low for him, probably 2 to 2.5 steps lower than the radio edit or his normal live performance. But it allowed Jo Dee to come in and hit her high spots. It wouldn't have been possible if they'd have done it in his key. Not a lot of artists have that kind of humility to take the spotlight off of themselves, especially for an award show where he's a highlight. Well done Cole.
Okay I don't know much about him but listening to them sing together I was thinking she could sing circles around him and how they seem like a mismatched pair to perform together, even if it is her song they are singing about.
Still don’t get why Cole has to drop the key so much, I think it takes away from the song. Couldn’t she have just hit the notes in her original key as well?
I pray so bad that Jo Dee Messina is making a comeback! I have seen her performing her old "Burn" album in a lot of places lately! I would give anything to have new music from her! She is an icon in country music!!
So happy to see Jo Dee Messina back on the CMA stage. I pray this is part of a long-deserved comeback. She is an amazing artist and her vocals were always spot on. And man, her energy and spirit live was always uplifting. She had so many great singles and album tracks, among them; Because You Love Me, Even God Must Get The Blues, Do You Wanna Make Something Of It, Dare To Dream, Stand Beside Me, I'm Alright, Bye Bye, You're Not In Kansas Anymore, Lesson In Leavin, My Give A Damn's Busted, Bring On The Rain, Heads Carolina Tails California and so many more. Would love to see Jo Dee tour Australia again.

I grew up to her song! When Cole first dropped this, I said he best bring Jo Dee Messina on for a collab! I was so waiting for this!!! Went to one of Cole’s concerts in September & it was phenomenal!!!
I knew that song had something I remembered. I didn't recognize it until THIS. her voice was the first song I fell in love with when I visited Texas as a CALIFORNIA kid. I stayed even after my parents went back home. And it was for the music. Then when I went home I was made to feel like an OUTCAST for liking it. And I didn't GIVE A DAMN. i still played the music and I live in Texas now. Lol

Identical video on Cole's channel, watched that multiple times but am now running the remix track itself on repeat. Jo Dee, do some new stuff. Burn is among my favourite albums, and to think the last track ("Bring On the Rain") was used as a September 11, 2001 tribute makes me realize how long it's been.
