I was stationed there with HHC 1/33rd Armor as a medic from '83 to '85! When drone first takes off, those were my barracks! We ran every morning! "Men of War!"
dad was stationed there from '77 to '82 (1/48th) everyone knew my dad--which was a mixed blessing this is where I call home especially as my grandparents lived a mile away from the PX in Frankfurt
Wow. I thank you, Kevin, for this nostalgic moment. This location was my very first duty station from Feb ‘86 until October ‘91 - all at Alpha Company (Gators) 1st Battalion 48th Infantry Regiment (Dragoons) until it redesignated to 4/18 INF (Vanguards). I absolutely loved "Third Herd (3AD)" and this Kaserne. We deployed for Operations Desert Shield and Storm on Christmas eve from here, and upon our redeployment commenced to completely refurbish the entire Kaserne - to include draining and cleaning the duck pond, sandblasting all cobblestone, renovating all barracks, etc (all in the name of turning the Kaserne over to the East Germans - at least that’s what we were told). I used to love running the back mountain trails leading up behind and past 45th Support. I also used to look forward to eating at this intimate little Italian joint just outside of the Kaserne called Pasquale's, after returning home from field maneuvers. Again man, thanks and ‘Happy New Year. ‘Best regards.
Corey Oliver Wow this is the first time I’ve ever heard anybody mention 45th support Battalion I was in Alpha Company 45th support battalion from 1987 to 1990.
I was with 45th SB (Aco) from 1990-91. CSM Barber and LTC Fairchild (I think) were BN CDR/CSM. COL Higgins was the BDE CDR. I remember having cold ones at the Nashvilles club and remember a place called the "Blue Night" close to the main gate. People called it the Blue Fight back then. Those gyros stands where awesome grub just stumbling out of the pub. I ended up staying in after returning stateside and retired back in 2011. Seems like just yesterday and sometimes it seems like it was a long time ago. Pretty Cool- Remember running up to Roth hill where the vehicles were parked- had guard duty up there a time or two-@@teresaramos4689
Yep! Column left in the morning meant a short but uphill run and column right meant the 5 mile cabbage patch run! Never fell out cause I didn't want to run twice in one day!
The first building you see is the building I was in from June 1981 till June 1983. 1st BN 33 AR, CSC Company. Men of War. 11 Charlie, we were on the top floor.
The view of Coleman Kaserne in Gelnhausen, Germany. The view is a 360 degree view taken above the parade field. Coleman Kaserne was the home of the United States Army Second Brigade, Third Armored Division until the end of the Cold War.
