So I found out you can order a condensate kit for a Coleman/RVP Mach 8 RV Roof A/C. No longer do you have to special order an A/C with the pump built-in. Here's how!!! Coleman Machine 47233A3091 Condensate Pump Assembly
I honestly had no idea what they were for the longest time before tracing the hose and realizing it must be a pump. Man it's always entertaining to watch you do things I'll likely never do. I wish I had the opportunity but mobile tech work it's a lot of components and onsite repairs for misc structure ect.
Dometic uses gravity by adding cups and another gasket under the A/C. I had not planned on doing this much mobile work or even difficult work when I set out years ago. There is much more money in easier work, I just have a difficult time not helping people that need help. Thanks!
I may have only seen a couple of those pumps in my whole career and defiantly never installed one. Thanks for the video. I always learn something from you.
Great video, thanks for sharing it. Question for you. I plan to install 2 of these pumps on my Coleman Mach 8’s. I will have to run the drip lines down the roof to the back of the coach as I won’t be replacing a roof anytime soon (I hope 😀). Any suggestions on how to hold that piping down on the roof? I also assume I will need to make sure the piping is UV stable. Thanks!
Interesting James. I believe most rv’s just dump the water on the roof and it finds its own way to the ground as I wasn’t aware this pump was available. It’s an add on I expect and doesn’t come with the ac? I like this idea. The thing that would worry me is that if this ac failed the next technician would just remove the clamp down screws, unhook the power and yank the ac off the roof with it still attached to the drain tube. I’m not sure other technicians know the things you know.
I understand your concerns, but I doubt any technician would rip the A/C off with the tube connected. The biggest issue has always been finding a replacememt A/C with a pump on it. They usually have to be special ordered and that takes weeks which is unacceptable when the A/C isn't working. So it's nice to know the pump can be added later, as I and most techs would put a non-pump unit on and just cap the drain. Thanks!
Very helpful video. I need to do the same install as I messed up and ordered the Mach 8 HP without condensate pump only to find there was a pump on my old unit but the drain line it was plugged which is why water ran down the sides. Do you have the part number for the condensate pump you used?
Instead of taking off fan and getting into control panel.. Can I just tap the purple wire and white wires going into control box.? Would save me time/effort.. Great video.. I wish unit would have come with this..
The window AC I recently bought sprayed the condensed water onto the hot coil where it evaporates and increases the efficiency of the unit. I have been thinking of doing that on the RV with one of these pumps. I wonder if anyone is doing it.
James either I mist it or you didn't say. Does the manufacture put in the drain while building the roof or you modified the ceiling and installed all the drain. Thanks, nice tutorial.......
Overal, RV manufacturers install this when the roof is built. This is a special case where we were re-lamiating the roof so we installed the line while we were at it. Generally, no one adds a condensate line after the fact. :) Thanks!
I do like the Mach 8's. They are low profile and not as loud due to the two blower motors rather than the one. However, they can be very difficult to bolt down from the top if that is how they are installed. If they are clamped from underneath, not a problem. Thanks!
@@AZExpert Thanks, I can get to the bottom and that is how the old ones are clamped down. We have ducts but I looked and they come several different ways for different kind of ductwork. Thinks it's time to make a change! thanks!
Great video. Two questions. Any idea if I can upgrade my 2012 Coleman Mach 8 to that shrouded fan. That looks a lot more effective and quieter than my version that deserves the Mach monicker for loudness. Secondly, you probably want to put a screen insert into that drain tube or some insect is going to build a nest in it and clog it up.
