Coleman is a name we trust when it comes to camping equipment. This lantern works great and illuminates a good sized area. We had it on the table in the pouring rain and there were no problems. The lantern reportedly runs for 13 hours. It comes with a nice carry case too that protects it fairly well.

Mantles are what those bulbs are called. I always liked those lanterns. They throw a ton of light and last a good while. One positive is that they put off a good bit of heat that you can warm your hands with. Just don't touch it! It will burn ya!

That’s the word I was looking for. Definitely gets hot. Quite a few moths met their demise by getting too close.

I think you had better learn how to use a coleman type propane lantern and what things are called. Just my thoughts.

You Forgot to Pre light the mantles before you lit it.....seriously why does everyone keep forgetting to do that, its not that hard.

Pre-light mantles, is that in the directions? Just want to know so I can look for it when I buy one of these.

@@darrellee4953 YES, its Absolutely Important, you pre light the mantels BEFORE you light the gas otherwise you'll have a fireball like "Flare up" ingulfing the whole fount that the mantels are hanging on. and Yes it HAS instructions on the mantel packaging that say to pre light before use.

@@darrellee4953 Also your going to need to stock up on a lot of propane to feed one of these, cause they will burn through it like a fuel pig, on "high" is about 3-4 hours burn time & on "low" is about 7- 8 hour burn time.
