Colin Hay - Men at Work (2 of 5) 

Men at Work was a rocking band and had the funniest videos, loved them.

I watched a lot of MTV in the early era of the station and can attest that they LOVED Men At Work to the point that they played one of their concerts in San Francisco on the station and they had Colin and Gregg be VJ's for a few hours. They also played Men At Work videos around the clock every day. MTV really promoted and launched Men At Work into the rock stratosphere.

The thing is he emigrated to Aussieland with his family when he was a lad...He's kinda of a scottish aussie hybrid with very strong ties to both countries...

The problems Men at Work had remind me of what went down with Creedence Clearwater Revival. A tragedy in both cases that the bands' careers were so short-lived!

publishing and royalties is what destroys bands....the band should have a agreement where the royalties are split with a lion share to the original writer...you can not have a situation where the band constructs a song and all royalties goes to the clown who scripts 3 verses...what about the rhythm section construction and the layering of textures..don't they count.

Yes, and if you listen carefully, you can hear that he still has quite a bit of a Scots accent.
