Back in the day the graphics and detail of this were downright amazing.

thank you codemasters, for making me into the car enthusiast i am today.

I love how ps2 games like this one have there own unique style and look. I consider this game to be a piece of art as well as a kick ass rally car racing game. I think the music really helps with its style as well.

when a rally game was a rally game.

If I'd go back in time and I'd given the choice to buy CMR 3 or WRC II: Extreme, I would absoultely choose CMR3. Why? Because this game felt truly advanced for its time! The car handling in WRC II was "oily" in comparison with CMR3 (which had it's own issues like the car felt like it was rotating from its center when steering). Also CMR3 stages were more creative and the cars had much more details than a Sony's first party title (on the top of beautiful reflections and rain effects in the windshield). And... how can I forget the amazing damage system? It was miles ahead of any racing titles released that time. Codemasters were truly the masters of code back then.

i would always drive of this one cliff in the ford focus rs 2001 when i was 5 until i had no wheels left and it keep pushing on 1 wheel until i finally got terminal damage from no wheels, i loved it when games had no "terminal damage" because you lost a single wheel it should be like it was back then
