I'm a dem but I like him too, he has a really impressive resume and he's sane. Apparently he and Cheney butted heads constantly and Powell often took a role as the voice of reason in the room. It's a shame that Cheney had so much power during that administration. If Bush listened to Powell's advice more than Cheney's, things probably would have gone very differently.

I did not always agree with bush, but with all due respect to your comment regarding Bush lying to get into an illegal war in Kuwait, Didnt Saddam Hussein not invade the country and got warning to leave by the United nation. Barbara Bush was a woman of strength and dignity. Will we ever have a first lady like her again? I am not critical of Melania, the model who took her clothes off because that was her job. King is utterly wrong to say that Barbara Bush and Colin Powell had such different upbringings. Powell is from a black elite which is almost a carbon copy of the East Coast preppies Bush married into -- with the added British frisson of being from a Jamaican lineage.
I guess Gen. Powell said that the former President Bush 41 is just that kind guy. That means he is that kind of principled and very kind guys altogether by his noticed humble and honesty nature.
