Colin Stetson is one of the best musicians alive in my opinion. He's so innovative with how he plays sax

Between the album cover, the score, and the "drone jazz" genre descriptor, I'm very excited to listen to this after finishing the review

Colin is so so good, man. I love this record. It's happy, cheerful, lighthearted at times. And then it hits you like a truck, creates unease, tension. I'm extremely happy too see Colin finally being recognized by big media and him getting the big bucks. I love his music and I wish him all the best.

I absolutely love the artwork of the album

I just remembered where I had heard the name Colin Stetson from, he made the song used in the Uzumaki trailer, “Among the Sef”. I mostly remembered because the title track of this album reminded me so much of that song 😮

Seen this guy live three times back to back in 2017 and it was absolutely transcendental. I need to check this one out still, his Void Patrol collaboration was great last year.

Ngl, I wish he had continued his Ex Eye project. I fucking loved it. As a teen, it was my first exposure when it came to more experimental instrumentation.

the soundscapes are hauntingly beautiful holy hell, and the way he plays the horn it's an endless ballad, really one of the most talented musicians right now.

Oh this is the guy from the red dead 2 soundtrack? The one who played the sax in the track Fleeting Joy? That shit got me transcending during a gunfight with the pinkertons. Masterful work!

When the album first dropped, I was on it listening to all of the tracks in order. I had just gotten into Colin's work a few months prior, starting with discovering New History Warfare Vol. 2 and onward, so the release of this new album was incredible. Compared to all of his other albums, WWWTWWFTS is probably the most cohesive in sound out of all of them. In a way, it shows how far Colin has come from New History Warfare Vol. 1 (not necessarily my favorite album) with putting his raw emotions into works of sound. You can hear that perfectly in certain tracks in this album, which have feels and undercurrents far different from those in the New History Warfare albums, All This I do For Glory, and Never Were The Way She Was. I would say that the tracks which accentuate the uniqueness of this album, and the ones that make it my favorite album, are One Day In the Sun, The Surface and the Light, and Behind the Sky.

Where’s the new A7X album review?
