#pottery #choking #wheelthrown
this is kind of a long but an important lesson, for the majority of the beginner section you've been pushing things out although moving into the intermediate section you will have to learn to pull things in.
there are probably many more ways to choke but these are the four ways that I know of.

I am making a lot of closed lidded jars for gifts. I am doing a lot of collaring in, and this video should save me some time and improve my work. I learned the six point and full choke incorrectly. I rewatched those two parts your demonstrated several times. I love all your explanations about what causes twisting and how to fix it. I learned so much. Thank you!

You are easily my favorite pottery person on YT. Your explanations & demos are so clear and easy to understand for a noob like me, you crack me up, and you've already helped me quite a bit in the first month of my first pottery class ever--yesterday I managed to throw a decent cylinder thanks to your video on that. Finally decided to leave a comment after noticing your shirt in this vid because it's become obvious to me that you're a Mega Man (and retro gaming in general) junkie like me...that figure on the shelf above your kiln was the first giveaway. (Was legit confused for a second, I thought YT's algorithms were playing some trick on me when I saw a thumbnail of a kiln + MM.) You ever think about dressing up your kiln as Heat Man?! 😂 I'm a Mega Man speedrunner (not a great one, mind you...but still better than I am at pottery presently lol). By the end of my current class session (3 more weeks to go), you know I intend to have an E-tank made! From one Blue Bomber fan to another, thank you so much for your content, it's truly appreciated.

Hey there omg it worked it worked it worked great, so much quicker, made biggest ever bell pot and no ripples in the clay, used 2 kilos of clay my biggest ever pull . Just angling my hand like you said and the six point collaring made all the difference.

What is your favorite clay to use on the wheel? B mix ok?
@EarthNationCeramics
@EarthNationCeramics 3 года назад
B mix is a very standard clay that most people who are beginners use. There's a grog and a no grog version of B mix but I personally prefer darker clays. if you're asking because you might be starting out and you want to know which one I would suggest I would suggest the beam mix with grog as the no grog is a little bit closer to porcelain and porcelain takes a little bit to get used to
