In this video, we go on a road trip to collect the Delta Spindle Moulder, That we had bought for the fence and hood arrangement to put on our SCM T120. Whilst the Delta is quite rusty on the table, everything else appears to be ok. We will most likely clean it up and connect it to power to make sure it works. The bearings are a little dry sounding but if not too bad, we will put it into production.

Keen to see the disassembly and getting it going as well as the work on the other spindles.

I have already fitted the fence to the SCM. I didn't film it, though, but I will do a then vs now video when it's all finished

Just the video I was hoping for. Your Ute handled that weight well. I couldn’t believe when you said now we have an hour and a bit drive!! I thought you may have been 10-25 mins from your shop. Brilliant Chanel Gary .

Yeah, it coped ok. The suspension in these Fords is quite soft for a 1 tonne truck. My old vehicles would have barely dropped, it drove fine, though. We don't often find machinery close to home, unfortunately. Thanks for the encouragement.

New subscriber to your channel from Texas. I’m enjoying your machine finds. Hope you get the rs-15 up and running. I had one back in the 80’s. Very gutsy machine. Milled a lot of 8/4 oak through it . changed top and bottom bearings mostly because my roof leaked ( of course right on top of spindle) other than that never had an issue. Sold my business and its still making money with new owners. Good luck in your ventures.

Great to have you with us. Yes I hope to get it running. It certainly is a solid machine, heavier than I first expected, too. The bearings are a little dry sounding, but we will see how it sounds, no movement that I can feel.

You could just about hear the ute groan when you loaded the spindle moulder - hope you can get it working. Cheers

Haha, It actually drove really well. The Wadkin BEM was a lot heavier to drive with. I think it will clean up pretty well.

Yeah, they pretty much all seem to be the same arrangement. To be honest, it's a good setup with easy belt change and everything housed inside the pedestal.

Jeez, for a minute there i thought you might have needed an extra leaf in the springs of the old ute!

We have one of those an excellent spindle does everything we throw at it. The shaft is on a taper and can be released to allow collects to be used with router bits. I have heard of someone who put a VFD on it and over rated it.

I'm looking forward to getting it working. Needs some attention, though. I can't get the table rings out as yet, and hopefully, with some more wd40 soaking, they will free up.

The old delta unisaw was a decent machine. There's hardly a woodshop in America that doesn't have one. But most of their stuff is kinda second rate. I hated Rockwell Delta bandsaws and thicknessers. The shapers aren't much chop either. They did make good drill presses though.

This is the only one I have had any experience with. I only wanted the fence, though.

Those rs-15 delta (invictas) are well regarded over here, and pretty much t120 clones. The later ti-14 is a t160 clone. Not quite as refined as the scm, but functional.

Thanks for the info. I dont know much about the Delta machinery as I've never owned one before.

@DTJoinery delta was mostly smaller equipment. At some point in the 1970s they started selling invicta and scm with delta badges. That was the first of their industrial lines if I recall correctly. The bearings in that machine should be a 6211-z/c3 top and a 6206zz bottom. Relatively inexpensive if you ever need to replace them
