@@gabrielmcdonnell8699 You are right about that. I personally like songs like Heavy and Why Part 2 a little better, but maybe that's just because I have heard December like a million times. lol
Great song. As a kid from the 60s/70s I remember my parents always letting me listen to my music on car trips. So when my daughter was in high school, I was the parent who drove her and her friends everywhere. And we listened to their music. That's how I grew to appreciate groups like Collective Soul, Smashing Pumpkins and System of a Down to name a few. And she even grew to like the music from my time, one of her favorites being The Cars which was my fav group in high school. This is why I love watching your reactions especially from 60s/70s music. Keep it up guys, this is great.
The World I Know was another great song and radio hit, but they have a tremendous volume of bangers that you guys may not have heard because they were not so much radio staples- December, Heavy, Gel, Better Now, Run, AYTA, Needs, When the Water Falls,........ .
My brother once said that they were the 90's band that consistently had great guitar hooks on their many hits. Also, Heavy is a great hard rocking song from them.
Have seen these guys live twice as openers and they are a really great band live... hits plus the rest of the catalog... great tune! Gel, December, Where the River Flows, The World I Know... good stuff from these guys.
This is one of those pieces that make me want to ride around in my car with my windows open and super-dark shades on and just jam. EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the best but unfortunately most underrated bands of that time. December and Gel are two more great songs I saw them live at a festival in 2015 and they tore the house down
Blast from the past! I saw these guys in the summer '94 playing at a bar, on the deck, in a small resort town in the Adirondaks (Lake George). If I didn't watch my self I I would have bumped right into the rhythm section! It was awesome...and no cover!
I am not a fan of 90's "grunge/alternative". I am more open minded to what you have brought to the channel. But i have always liked this band and their songs... (I know four of them). December is great, too. They also were on an episode of 90210 where they sang "Heavy". One night in the early 2000's they were in Chicago, a group of us went downtown just to have something to do. We went to Hard Rock and heard they were playing near by and we went. They were great - it was just crowded and loud! Great reaction!
Great band and song, but a very underrated and. "Heavy" is my favorite from them. I would love to see your reaction to "Jane" from Jefferson Starship. I know you reacted to "White Rabbit" when they were Jefferson Airplane, but when they became Starship they added Mickey Thomas on vocals. He's they guy who was singing in "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" by Elvon Bishop, which you reacted to and praised Mickey's voice . "Jane" is a complete banger, with heavy guitar riffs and Mickey's vocals are just insane. Love your channel btw - you guys are awesome!
da band called Live and Collective soul were SUCH awesome 90s bands.....and Gin Blossoms.......do a session w Gin Blossoms "found out about u" and " lightning crashes" from Live.
Also check out their song! "She said" from the movie Scream 2 soundtrack. Especially the version they do with a symphony orchestra from their greatest hits album....its beautiful.
I got news for both Billy Corgan and Ed Roland, this is the riff that most resembles "Shine." ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E_6dFjENafw.html 1982 it went #1 Hot Country and #13 Hot 100 so they both heard it before. Doesn't mean they intentionally lifted it. There are only 12 notes. We have to share them all.
Waiting on another gerry rafferty reaction, its a must if you want to hear more sax and a song written and sung by gerry.infact i would go as far to say one of the most beautiful songs that will ever grace your ears.if you dont play it you three are missing out big time.
Hello fellas, I thought I'd drop off another suggestion in case you're interested "Bob Seger - Like A Rock" I wouldn't be surprised if you fellas don't recognize parts of this song because it was used in commercials. Looking forward to hearing what you think 🤔
In ‘93, the chances of knowing “Shine” came largely in 3 ways: 1. You relied on MTV for music exposure. 2. You avidly listened to a rock station (remember radio? haha). 3. You worked in retail and the store’s playlist was rock-centric. If none of that applies to you, it’s conceivable that you never heard of “Shine” or Collective Soul. And that’s perfectly ok bc everything *isn’t* for everybody. ✌🏽🤘🏽
Great Song Love the Vocals & Guitars Just saw Collective Soul on Tour with Switchfoot. Great Twin Bill. You Should check out “Meant To Live “ by Switchfoot. Similar Vibe & Criminally Underrated
Hi there... do yourselves a favor and react to Ren, an independent artist that is blowing up... he has AMAZING skills, I consider him a genius! Start with "Hi Ren" and then do the trilogy "Jenny's Tale" "Screech's Tale" "Violet's Tale" I'm sure you guys will have a blast!
I like several of their songs. I like December, though this one may be my favorite. Middle of the road band but I enjoy them. For me, they’re in the same bucket as Dishwalla but not quite as good. Dishwalla’s “Home” would be a nice laid-back one for a review. That one really makes you think of home 😊 What would you guys do if two of you couldn’t make for recording? Would love to see Ryan carrying the show by himself. “Hi, I’m Ryan. Never heard of the song; never heard of the band. So let’s get to it”
I saw them open for Van Halen and even though I have always liked Collective Soul the crowd kept chanting Van Halen and it was embarrassing and insulting to collective Soul and you could see their heart was no longer into playing. I was disappointed for the band even though I really wanted to listen to Van Halen more
I saw the same thing happen to Metallica during Ozzy's Ultimate Sin Tour (1986). Tough to see your band being boo'd for doing their job. Rock to all! Great channel.
Always loved this song. That fuzzy guitar just bangs. The other aspect of the song that screams grunge era to me, in a good way, is the pause and 'ya' interjection.
I’d rather hear Drown because it’s a more interesting song musically and distinct from Shine no matter what Corgan thinks lol. Shine isn’t a bad song, just a little repetitive. The short guitar solo was great though as well as the harmony shine vocals towards the end.
WAIT WAIT WAIT.... Yall never reacted to the Grateful Dead...😂😂😂😂😂😂 Please let me be thw one to stop the bus and punch your ticket! Cornell. Morning Dew. That 78 version of Not Fade Away when Brent and Jerry had an existential moment. Original blues with Pigpen, Hurts Me Too. I challenge you to not like these songs.
They barely missed being classified as a Christian Rock band. Between them and Live, there are many elements of religion without being sad and empty like, um Creed, say?
I appreciate you taking the time to do this. I hope Ryan is back with you soon.I also enjoy listeneing to your banter. Don't change a thing! Grunge rules!
