Idk what is valuable and what isn't but recently been collecting ones I like, I found a hw art cars one called raijin Express and I love the dragon detail on it
The cars I go for are the officially licensed ones based on actual vehicles such as Volkswagons, Corvettes and Lamboginis. I also collect character cars and 'Hollywood diecasts' based on cars from films and shows. I have recently got into collecting monster tucks too. great review. very informative. keep up the great work.
I wanna say for people who just like hot wheels like me. Collect what you like, not what will be valuable. I think it should be obvious but seriously you dont have to do anything except collect to be a collector. the resell value simply doesn't matter if you just like it. None of my hotwheels are anything above the mainline ones, but i love every single one of them just because it gives me joy collecting them. Imo the better collector cars don't even look that good, so make sure to never forget to enjoy the collecting first and foremost^^
Agreed, I have literally over a thousand hot wheels still in mint packaging from when I was a child I had all kinds of opened ones but I always made sure to put away my favorites. Still have them all and any time I see one I like I buy it and add it to the collection.
Collected hot wheels from 99-03 just collecting mainlines and TH and left the hobby. Started again 2 years ago and it was a different world I got turned on to. Meeting the right collectors that I call friends now, I am into the RLC and convention pieces. Hot wheels has gotten so big that within the 2 years I have so many cars that go for pretty good money. Alot of which I get out at stores or when the RLC drops a new car. I'm not a reseller so for me I love the collecting aspect of it. Enjoy your cars and have respect for the hobby. It's awesome.
Hotwheels has changed a lot since then. Nowadays there is more resellers than collectors. Which is a good thing since it is driving up the prices and also making the hobby more desirable as it is harder to find cars at the store and the bots that compete online. The scarcity has definitely attributed to the prices.
I'm a kind of collector myself, and I realise all the Hotwheel cars I have is just common. Still, it makes me excited even though they are not that detailed.
there's a lot of really nice ones with many paint variations in the $1 line, I wish they saved the treasure hunts for the premium line, since people want to spend a lot on those anyways, but it must make business sense
I've been collecting for 11 years, I'm a person who does not really care about the value of 1/64 scale cars since I customize almost 98% of them. however it's nice to see these videos, really enjoying them!
I recently heard that American retail outlet Kroegrer have produced exclusive Hotheels cars that are even rarer than Super treasure hunts. These cars in question are standard mainlines but what makes them so sought after and collectable are the backing cards they are on themselves which are in black and white with the idea that you colour them in yourself. These are ones you definitely want to keep in their packaging if you are fortunate enough to obtain them.
i have eight USA cars- four classic cords and four olds 442's. all of them are in their original cards. i know they could fetch several hundred dollars each, but theyre just not for sale. the blue cord and the orange 442 are my faves.
This is the video I was trying to find all over the internet! As I want to start collecting these, I was not sure what mainline, culture, premium, TH, STH etc meant. Thanks for the video. Subbed.
Nice video drifter! I used to care about rarity and supers and I even prioritized them but now, I just gave up and instead focused on other lines. (mostly because despite the desperate hunting sessions, I found no supers and my super count was 0) Ironically, I started finding the supers I wanted in second-hand shops. I also found even more cars from other brands which have a limited production marking.
It makes it hard to find the rare ones in stores , when the employees grab them up for themselves when stocking them from the boxes to the shelves . Screwing the customers out of a real good HW. That's F' ucked up.
The sweet 16. I had them all in the packages, until i was robbed in 1998. My dad told me when i was a kid to buy two of each . You can play with one and keep the other one in a box. And thats what i did . I wonder where they ended up. It tore my heart out when they were stole from me. Also stolen were my vinyl albums . just over 9000 albums. That hurt more than the Hot Wheels. Years later i did start over , but will never recover from the past. I am at around 1500 now with rare cars found at different locations around the country. Will be selling them in the next year or two. A total package deal to the right person.
@@imjustpassionate3340 i love buying new ones but now that im retired i dont get out as much, plus the fact that the closest store to where i live now is 125 miles away one way . but i get a bunch when i go! thanks little brother
@@cheesewithuhhh Yeah it was a heart breaker. They can't steal the memories of the searches and then the joy when i got home to check the new additions. You should have seen the hot wheel cities my friends and i made on the hill behind my house when i was a kid. I'm talking full blown cities with police stations , fire houses , grocery stores , gas stations. Even went as far as having 2 different districts. My dad was in construction. Thats who i learned that from. If your gonna go , Go Big lol.
My house was robbed. When me and my parents moved. And we got 2 truck loads at a yard sale then 4 truck loads at the guys house. I had some unopened hotbwheels. In a Marlboro bag. Got the bag back but I didn't go inside the house but seen hot wheels hanging on the wall
I remember as a kid going to a mostly clothing store (with toys in the back) and finding some star wars hotwheels that I thought were really unique and bought them. A few years later I am glad I did because only now I realize how beautiful they are. I have a battle damaged storm trooper, battle damaged black(?) storm trooper, imperial trooper (I think it was called) and a chunkier normal storm trooper. the battle damaged strom trooper is my favorite out of all of them
I have 100s upon 100s of cars that I've been collecting since I was a kid and that my dad passed on to me from 1968 and up. Also a few collectors carrying cases. Not only hotwheels but matchbox as well. I probably have so many rare cars.
I am here because i purchased a lot of 60 acceleracers for 2$ a piece and sold them all for 500$ at my local collectible show. Now its a new hobby for me 😂
I’ve been collecting proper for… 3 years now? And all 3 of my Supers have been found in a nearby Kroger chain store. My first was actually the one Super I *wanted*, the ‘84 Sport Quattro from the Factory Fresh line. It is my crown jewel. I do hope to grab the Thrill Climbers cars someday, considering the cars in the collection and being a Colorado native.
I found 3 TH blue NSXs in WM one time. Gave 2 to good friends. The one I kept came with a factory defected front fender. Felt such a rush taking them to the register and walking out for just $3.
Some of my all time favorite rare series of hot wheels are the HW hall of fame line and and the Ferrari Racers series! The pride and joys in my collection is my Ferrari 250 TR from the Hall of Fame set and the Ferrari 365 GTB from the ferrari racer series. Absolutely gorgeous paintwork and details
been collecting since my early kids days: 0 normal TH's Massive amount of special Mainlines (including all 8 50th anniversary ZAMACS) 6 premiums 0 STHs 0 character cars 0 RLC or convention cars
Hello, tx for the great detailed video. So i went to look at some big grocery shops, and found there to be only HotWheels in 5-10-20 car packs only. It was rather hard to find individually sold HotWheels. So I wonder, do the Treasure or Super TH series only come into the individual packed ones? I went through many that came per 5 cars sets or higher and coudnt fint anything special in between. So therefore the question, is TH or STH cars reserved for individual packaged HotWheels? Thank You.
I like the unique cars that HotWheels makes themselves better than the real life ones, like the Bone Shaker. They are very unique and cool. I also like the mystery pack HotWheels.
I've been collecting cars since 2018. Found my first Treasure Kunt by accident, and it's a Kool Kombi. Got plenty of premium models, some character cars, plenty of hot-ticket cars like the Bugatti EB110, and 1 genuine Redline. No STH's though.
@@jordan_9992 Depends on what country & store you've went into. As a Canadian, regular Mainlines cost $1.25, Character Cars are ~$5, premiums $6-7, and if you want them Team Transports, then that'll set you about $18. Ebay resellers would inflate those prices up to ~$20-80 bucks if you tend to get that Bugatti.
@@DrifterD Thanks. Recently I joined in the Redline Club and got lucky to get a Custom Eldorado in pink and it looks damn good. Eventually I'll find a Super... eventually.
you can pick up the bigger tomicas cheap if they have been thru a supercharger very much- the superchargers scratch them up and it devalues them. the greyhound buses come to mind when i think of that, but all the tomica trucks are like that. YOU GUYS THAT USE SUPERCHARGERS BE SURE TO REPLACE THE FOAM ON THE WHEELS BEFORE THEY DAMAGE YOUR CARS.
Oooh, okay. Makes sense. Guess I gotta pay more attention to the packaging. I just started my collection last year and pretty much all of them are mainline, I just like to collect real-life youngtimer models from 70's to 90's. Everything else is too high-level for me, for now :)
6 months into really collecting hotwheels : 2 sth 17 th (7 left on pegs ) 60 ish premium real riders 200 mainlines 3 rlc All the kaidohouse Datsun pre ordered ….. I think I’m hooked lol Happy hunting
@@PrathamShah it’s the first time in my life that I collect something that I don’t think about the resell price of it but just enjoy the product. As far as investments … stocks, cryptos and precious metals are more my thing ;)
I'd guess there are 10,000 plus of any STH based on how many shops and even convenience stores sell them. They shouldn't resell for more than $20 since you can get a premium brand for that.
Premium and STH are completely different though. STH typically aren't announced on the packaging and are automatically more rare because less are made. So it makes sense how some go for so much
Thanks for the Info!! I'm currently trying to sell my Adult Sons Hot Wheels Collection from their Childhood. So I have 4, 5-gallon Totes with New In Package, Loose, Playsets, Lots of Tracks & Carry Cases & Lots of Vintage Hot Wheels from the '70's thru Present, that I'm currently putting them on eBay.
Another tip on value of cars: don't trust eBay for values all the time. Some listings aren't what they seem and are just there to hype things up and makes things worse. Sometimes, if you check sold listings on eBay, you can get a rough estimate on what your car is worth
Damn I removed the original decals and custom painted a 2007 Bugatti veyron before realizing how rare it was, it was pretty beat up before and I did a good paint job but it kills me to know I basically ruined a collectable
I'm a 1:64 GTR colelctor, mostly, I colelct Mini gt r35, I also have the other gens, The only thing im annoyed about is the scaling of Tomica and Hot Wheels, SOmetimes their model would be larger than Mini GT's but I dont understand since it also 1:64, so right now im thinking of sticking with the same brand.
It's almost weird to me that a "hot wheel" can be labeled as limited when there are 10,000+ of them, when Johnny Lightning, Greenlight, AutoWorld, etc... have chase vehicles where there are less than 100. Ah well, supply and demand.
All the other mentioned, STH maybe isn't rare but more so called Hard to Find. Whole my life I only found one. With the limited editions of other brands you at least know where to get them. We just need to learn that Rare and Hard to Find might not always be the same.
What I meant is the other brands aren't available on a big scale outside of USA in general, the only people I know that got these, got them imported. But looking at cars that are actually sold here, STH is still pretty rare if you talk about locally, not worldwide. Well, I even had to import the HW mainline RS 2 Avant, cause I couldn't find it here anywhere
My son got into monster trucks so I started buying him some and noticed they have limited edition Star Wars and marvel ones, I’ve started a decent size collection already including the darth vader which is awesome.
not sure if anyone commented this but those special series "mainline" hot wheels like the 500 horsepower/mario/lamborgini are $1.25-$2.25 here in the US
My favorite cars that I own are the Hot Import Nights Volkswagen Golf, Miami Vice Ferrari “Daytona Spider”, and the 007 James Bond movie cars series. Some honorable mentions include The Simpsons, Star Trek, Batmobile(s), and collectible NASCAR series that come with a metal guitar. Cool stuff!
Been collecting since I was a 1 year old. Although I am not old enough to have high value cars (born 2003) I was lucky to get some from the Ultra Hots collection from 2006. Such beautiful cars in all metal, opening hoods and rubber tires. They still look good but have been through a lot of playing back when, so not in the best condition lmao
same here man, im an 03 baby and had a bunch of cars when i was younger. it’s always been an interest and i’m now in automotive school and my toys just got bigger
I have a huge mac tool bag full of hotwheels, mattell, and spinmaster cars from when i was a kid, i looked trough it recently and i have the original batmobile from hotwheels and two spinmaster fast n furious cars with underglow and a bunch of cool unique ones
ITS HARDER NOW TO GET HOTWHEELS STRAIGHT OFF THE STORE SHELVES, since they've became sooo popular online that now there not that many stores that keep them stock on shelves due to this... smh it sucks, im glad i started collecting back in 2015 cuase now im pretty sure my collection is worth over 4000 dollars and steadily climbing in value!
Above the redline club is the original redline cars and maybe even some vintage 70s-90s cars imo-it’s literally like collecting limited edition cars vs collecting actual vintage cars
For me, I just started trying to spot the TH and super THs. I figured it would he easy to just look at the bottom of the cards on the rack and just spot the models I know are going to be one of the two. But I haven't gone out to hunt too much. So I can't say I have any experience in actually finding them. I took home my first cool HW yesterday. A Liberty Walk Skyline 2000gt. Hopefully I'll find some actual THs.
I dug out of my attic cars i used to get when I was a little kid and my dad would let me get one whenever we went to kroger. It's too late now, and I definitely have no regrets, but for future reference, does opening the packaging significantly lower the worth? It seems like a lot of collectors are okay with opening them.
What about the 50 years aniversary, g machines and racing from 2008/09(example: 68 camaro bigger then regular hotwheels and rubber tires)? Are they valluable?
Im just starting to collect them, though when i was younger, im talking like 6-8 years ago, i’d get hotwheels ALL the time, i use to have a big bin with probably more than 500 cars. Like a year ago when going threw it i found some very rare hotwheels that where in terrible condition because i played with them
it's sad the pallets in my area get raided, so all the goodies are well picked by the time you get there, but at least there's enough regular good stuff to go around, the other collectors idea of hunting is like shooting a baby deer right after it's born, they want to make sure no one else even sees "their" cars
i've been a fan of your work for quit some time now. It would mean very much to me if you could tell me your opinion about the nostalgic stuff i make Andy if my cars are rare. Anyways i'll continue being a Big fan of your work:)
Hi, I have been collecting for couple months and I wonder which 2022 hot wheels should I buy in order to resale them. I try to reduce the cost of my hobby. Ps I cant find STH here in Europe.
I’ve had them as a kid but just started to collect them again I’ll have to go through the ones I had as a kid because I think I have a sweet 16 on with the surf boards
My gold TH logo car is a 18 dodge challenger SRT demon! Under that logo it says Congrats on finding a super TH car, and we celebrating 25years! Had to post on my TT coz it was so beautiful 😍
I have a black custom dodger van with a golden bottom. Havent been collecting for years, and looked through my childhood hotwheels and I have over 50 dollars worth
I have a huge box of hot wheels from when I was a kid. Early 80's. They are all very well used ;) Who would have thought those 5 for $1 toys would be collectibles.
My dad got me into hot wheels when I was little I opened up a lot of lot of but for the last 5 or 6 years most of them I buy stay in the box for worth. And if I find any rare ones or old ones from the 90s or 2000s
i been collecting for about 2 years off and on and have found 45 regular treasure hunts and only 2 super treasure hunts, all found and brought in stores
Hey, I have a mustang collectors item red line club custom hot wheels and I can't find anything about it? I got it years back at a store in the middle of nowhere and don't know the pricing on it.
