People like all sorts of things. It’s not that hard to believe especially when most of us are former wattpad fans. You know what it’s like to love shitty story like these, why shit on it now?
@frenchgirl5878 Because those were appealing to 13 year olds not grown women. Also, we shit on current Wattpad readers, and those books have more substance.
i saw one person who did a video on colleen hoover defend the people who like her books (not defending the books tho) by pointing out that a lot of women who read them are ones who didnt read fanfic as preteens/teens and her writing fulfills that fanfic phase the rest of us had and grew from. also her writing is all very simple and in shorter sentences so it's easier to read and feels like a break compared to other better-written books, which helps non-readers get into reading before they move on to more complicated and thought-out books plus, you gotta admit even though they're shitty books they're pretty entertaining lmao gotta see how they end yknow edit- here's the video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-je0CDQmO4sg.htmlsi=HgbxF19V-cn5AKJW
I think it was meant to be delivered as a joke but it came off like the dad was stupid or something....or Coleen just forgot the lore of her own story (wouldn't be a surprise)
I think there are a number of people who set up trust funds for their kids and then resent their kid for getting an easier start in life. I see it a lot online.
I feel like threatening to expose an artist for being into drugs is pretty lame. Like finding out an artist does drugs is usually just kinda… yeah. I’d be more surprised if they didn’t.
How the hell has Colleen tripped and fell her way into having big ass opportunities like having her own movie when her books are the novel equivalent of those dark psychology imagines on tiktok 😔😔😔
nobody's talked about it because whenever they start writing a script or writing down bullet points Colleen climbs out of the nearest screen and burns every good book they own
the red head main character of this plays daphne in “switched at birth” which was a abc family (now freeform) show. it was PEAK 2010s teen media and her acting was actually pretty good. i’m not sure what went wrong here 😭
So I loved Switched at Birth and after searching her once I found that she's in tons of other cringey Hallmark type shows, and is the same way in all of those as this one Seemed like Switched at Birth was really her only decent acting job. 😅
tbf i think switched at birth probably catered more to her acting style due to how exaggerated facial expressions sometimes have to be in asl in order to get the correct meaning or intent of a word across. because you can definitely see her over exaggerated faces there too, they just fit better alongside sign language’s mouth morphemes and hand movements.
As someone who had a MAJOR pill addiction.. if he’s a long time addict, a handful won’t do much! When I broke my back at 22, the drs eventually put me on 2, 80 mg OxyContins a day, PLUS 4, 8 mg dilaudid(what they legit give cancer patients). My body was sooo addicted, when my prescriptions were stolen by a “friend,” I would take it to 80 hydrocodones a day, to equal the strength of the other two pain meds I was on. It’s wild!
Hey I feel you on that shit! I do H && oxys + norcos + Zan's legit just make me feel "normal" when I can't get dope. It's crazy AF && I've been an addict for 14years, so yes I can confirm with his comment, when your addicted to opiates, taking a handful of them will just make you feel "normal" ((also depending on your tolerance level, you might get a lil bit high, it all just depends person to person))
@@nemui3454Fr but I'd at least not romanticize abuse?? I'd make books like Fourth Wing nonstop and just let booktok eat it up every time. The author of fourth wing may be awful but at least their book wasn't toxic romance. It was just dumb.
Exactly, so why criticise her if you would do the same in her position? Do you not notice the cognitive dissonance in your statement? Full of judgement for something you would also do.
To be fair, I can understand a mother going through a custody case completely cutting off a guy that's having legal trouble. That's the kind of shit that a vengeful ex (or in this case mother in law) will bring up as an example of you having poor judgement...
yeah, but honestly i feel like a lot of times authors need to skirt around realistic behavior and go for behavior that makes comprehensive sense, because things that would be normal or excusable in real life can be REALLY unbearable or confusing in a character- people are complex and unpredictable in real life, but that complexity and spontaneity just comes off as nonsensical or out of character when applied to a fictional person. people aren't made to make sense, and it's not human to be logical and sensical all the time. characters are meant to (for the most part) not be confusing or nonsensical, and their decisions should have some logic or reasoning that the reader can interpret and understand (again, in most cases. some characters are made to seem confusing and wrong, and i think a lot of these characters can work- but those are usually carefully made and intentionally like that, so it comes off in a way readers can comprehend and appreciate). sorry for the little rant, i've just noticed a lot of artists and authors (and just creators in general) making the mistake of having their characters say or do something kind of weird because a real life person could realistically react that way, when there HAS to be some degree of separation. hence why you don't see fictional characters use the bathroom, cough, sneeze, stutter, or use "um" and "uh" in conversations. that kind of realism doesn't really have a place in characters, even realistic ones. there wasn't really a focus on how katniss managed to find time to take a shit in the hunger games, but i honestly think that's for the better (they also never mention how she dealt with her period, but she's under a lot of stress and malnutrition and has been for a long time, so her not menstruating honestly makes more sense than if she was). anyways yeah rant over so sorry 😭
before i say anything, i would like to note that the example that you were referring to actually isn't a super bad offender- i think her decision to break up with owen was fairly logical, all things considered. i just rant whenever anyone gives me the smallest opportunity because i went to yapper university and graduated with a degree in yammering. that being said, i feel like a lot of times authors need to skirt around realistic behavior and go for behavior that makes comprehensive sense, because things that would be normal or excusable in real life can be REALLY unbearable or confusing in a character- people are complex and unpredictable in real life, but that complexity and spontaneity just comes off as nonsensical or out of character when applied to a fictional person. people aren't made to make sense, and it's not human to be logical and sensical all the time. characters are meant to (for the most part) not be confusing or nonsensical, and their decisions should have some logic or reasoning that the reader can interpret and understand (again, in most cases. some characters are made to seem confusing and wrong, and i think a lot of these characters can work- but those are usually carefully made and intentionally like that, so it comes off in a way readers can comprehend and appreciate). sorry for the little rant, i've just noticed a lot of artists and authors (and just creators in general) making the mistake of having their characters say or do something kind of weird because a real life person could realistically react that way, when there HAS to be some degree of separation. hence why you don't see fictional characters use the bathroom, cough, sneeze, stutter, or use "um" and "uh" in conversations. that kind of realism doesn't really have a place in characters, even realistic ones. there wasn't really a focus on how katniss managed to find time to take a shit in the hunger games, but i honestly think that's for the better (they also never mention how she dealt with her period, but she's under a lot of stress and malnutrition and has been for a long time, so her not menstruating honestly makes more sense than if she was). anyways yeah rant over so sorry 😭
The only good thing I can say about Confess is that Owen is probably one of the least creepy of Colleen's male leads. The bar for that is in hell, but still.
katie leclerc is hard of hearing and she spent most of her career playing a Deaf character. ASL requires being super expressive, so that might have something to do with it.
I didn’t know this! And I’m sorry if my comments make anyone uncomfortable, however, I just found out a TON of actors I admire are hard of hearing as well, including Halle Berry!! Hard of hearing does not = bad acting and I think it’s fair to criticize Katie at least a LITTLE about lip biting 😭
halle berry was a shock, right? especially that it happened because of dv. i didn't mean to imply you're wrong for having a problem with her performance! bad acting is bad acting. i was just giving some context.
The guy with the good skin who had a half mil $ path to sobriety discussing relationship gossip while the tiredest looking man on the face of the planet stares painfully into the abyss is a real thing ive experienced.
I love these videos about Colleens stuff, cause I get to talk to my partner about them, and he is always absolutely staggered that she actually isn't a writer of horror.
@@urdadsleftasshole69 oml if that's the one I saw someone else review, with the manuscript plot device, holy moly did it seem rough! Funnily enough that was one that had my partner completely reeling. He got so angry at the ending lol.
Honestly, Auburn dumping Owen for being arrested is the smartest thing she could have done. That would absolutely be used against her in a custody battle. So a CoHo heroine finally does the smart thing, but will undoubtedly undo that before long
I think that his dad isn’t necessarily making fun of his trust fund, more like making fun of the fact that he’s trying to appear all cool and boho to these women around him. And then his dad spoils it by being like “ah don’t let him fool you he’s a trust fund baby! Just like me.” Like trying to get the people around his son to turn against him.
No way I’d ever be able to process this TERRIBLE show without your jokes. You got me wheeze laughing one second and then the next I’m in pain from the Colleen Hoover writing
40% (*reported*) so definitely not a shocker the cop ended up being a rapist/domestic abuser sheesh Colleen pullin through with a plot point that actually checks out
You dredging this up had the same vibes as "a politician paid 500,000$ to remove this from the internet, it would be a shame if I posted it on twitter" energy and honestly, power move. Also Owen looks like Chris Pratt and I can't decide who that's an insult to more, Owen or Chris Pratt.
Someone else in these comments pointed out that it might be because ASL requires exaggerated facial expressions so her role as Daphne just worked with her acting style.
@@NdieCity i'm so sorry to break it to you but colleen balinger does in fact have a show, it's even on fucking netflix and from what i've heard it's as awful as you'd expect
Seeing Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks), Katie Leclerc (Switched at birth/Community), and Kyle Secor (Tales From The Crypt/Veronica Mars) all gave me three, seperate jumpscares😭😭
Ever since you started making these videos, I have noticed so many people in real life reading and enjoying these books. Someone I know personally posted a 10/10 review for several of her books. I can't believe people actually enjoy her books and don't think they are disgustingly problematic/offensive.
This dumpster fire and Twin Peaks: the Return seem to have been filmed around the same time. So we have Colleen Hoover to blame for the lack of Audrey scenes in The Return!
love this video, this actress is actually deaf IRL she was trying to read lips. I can’t image trying to deliver lines perfectly with the disability of not hearing the other lines being said, She did great
Armpit cutting shirts are the worst! I have pretty bad sensory issues with clothing. I absolutely can't wear jeans even tho I love them because they're cute!
As someone with a c-section scar, seeing him RUB on it gave me major heebee jeebee’s 😑🙅🏻♀️ the scar is super sensitive and I get a trauma response anytime anything touches it
A couple of months ago, I knew nothing about Colleen Hoover. Now, thanks to your videos and a plethora of others, I can safely say that I have been scarred for life by the content of her books. And now I find out she has a whole SHOW??? I don't care if it's almost 4 AM, I need to watch you dissect this inevitable train wreck
Arm pitcutting t-shirtclub here, HUNNY YOU NEED TO TRY THE MENS SECTIONS 👏 the reason it cuts is because we have shoulders and fashion has decided we shouldn’t xD so there isn’t enough fabric there. The linings/stitching of your armpit/sleeve should line up around the top of your shoulder ball/point :) A women M cuts for me eventho its my size where a mens XS does not
What is with Colleen Hoover writing all these men to have tragic backstories to “explain” their shitty behavior???? it’s just lazy writing at this point
At this point we need a drinking game for Colleen-related media. Drink whenever a car accident that’s meant to induce sympathy or guilt is mentioned 🍹 🍹 🍹
If it was revealed that Trey had involvement in the drug planting then I’m sure his lawyer could figure something out considering he works for the police department & the money / connections the family has.
this plot is literally reminders of him but just a little different what the fuck 😭😭 also why do the main characters look like the main characters of it ends with us what. and why were all the characters played by people a decade older than the character?? LAWD THIS IS SO GOOFY
at 36:03, i think the reason aj whips the curtains open is bc he has a fear of closed off spaces he can’t see like showers with the curtains drawn & closed closets. when i was a kid i was deathly afraid of closets & i would always be ready to fight a bitch whenever i threw open shower curtains bc like… what if there’s a monster in there & i can’t see it?? if i was aj i would’ve shit my pants if i found a stranger man in there (even though i grew out of that fear)
Im literally so obsessed with this colleen hoover series, Ur the only creator I watch abt this topic since I love how funny you are. Putting these videos on in the background while I do homework is the best thing Ive discovered and I'll never get tired of you humor. TYSM for the hours of entertainment I appriciate it!!
I’ve seen this actress before in a show called Switched at Birth and I can confirm she always makes the same face and nose scrunch when she wants to convey she’s oh so angry 😂
@@elle8786 Exaggerated facial expressions are not an issue, I think what’s a bit off is the choice of expressions. Would she have control over that as a HOH actor or not so much? Do you know?
nikki!! your channel has been so much fun to watch, I showed your vids to my partner and sisters we all think you’re really funny hope to see more stuff on nikkiland too!
I’ve actually never read a CH book. But that’s not because I didn’t try, I’ve tried and tried but literary can’t get past like chapter 10 maximum. Normally I tapped out at chapter 5. Thank goodness for the library so I didn’t have to spend a cent on books I literally couldn’t force myself to finish. I was trying to read her books during the CH renaissance so I literally felt like I was the only one who didn’t enjoy her books. Everyone and their mother could not stop talking about her old books, her new books how amazing everything was. And I was like 🤨 did we read the same 5 chapters. But I kept my big mouth shut (for fear of the CH Stans) and then the most blessed thing happened people started to become brave (braver then my chicken self) and come out of the woodworks to say “I don’t like her or her books” and I felt so validated. So no I will never get tired of hearing people talk about her negatively. Because at this point she lowkey (highkey) deserves it.
i will NEVER get tired of watching you review colleen hoover, i could watch these forever (esp your book reviews, they’re incredible, please do more if you want to!!!!)
Not to be that person but it’s likely that they used a stuffed cat instead of a real one because cats are incredibly hard to work with on film sets, while dogs will follow commands almost immediately cats are more likely to misbehave or just not listen or ruin shots! It’s an expensive risk most are not willing to take
You Should play a colleen hoover drinking game where you drink everytime something toxic happens, an excuse or reason is used that is just dumb, a pregnancy is mentioned, or it gets freaky.
Just as a note, the main female character is in switched at birth (other tv show) where she plays a deaf teenager, while she isnt completely deaf, she is hard of hearing and uses hearing aids and lip reading, so a lot of the facial expressions are pretty common with people who use ASL because of how prominent facial expressions are in the language. (also she does not have a "deaf accent" cause she lost her hearing when she was a teenager herself.
I also like the whole Adam's picture being Owen's plot but I find it so funny how Owen's sketch is just Michelangelo's Creation of Adam but worse.😭 Like Colleen could not have thought of a less well-known piece of art to copy???
