It feels disgusting that basically they could just give theirselves better grades without earning it and just pat themselves on the back because the owners were able to create an environment that made it ok
I teach myself hahahha, homeschool was a lot faster and easier than being in a classroom setting. These kids know how to excel I. The SAT’s and ACT’s but they can’t do the college workload. It’s sad.
I'm sad for other students who *actually* deserve the spot based on their *real* grades, achievement, and background. My prayers go with others who still keep doing their best for thier dream college. Hugs from Indonesia, stay optimist, friends! 💪
I saw a story about this so called school on The Today Show on NBC and said to myself " This is a fraud" when I saw how they teach and they keep kids there for 12 hours of class etc...
If you watch some of the "acceptance" surprise videos, you can easily see something wasn't right... It's far too rehearsed, like a commercial. Now, after the truth has come out, they actually were recreating these events as forms of advertisement for the school.
BiffTannen2015 Who said they thought they were above average because of the color of their skin? You sound pretty racist to me. Perhaps many of them do have potential that is above average. Their parents entrusted administrators of a school to do the right thing, they didn't.
I love how all of the racists in the comment section have no issue blaming the kids and wishing for their downfall. As if it weren't the practices of a fraudulent, deceptive, and abusive school leader who scammed them into doing this. But go off!
It’s not “racist” to be upset about a student taking a space at an elite college which they didn’t earn and don’t deserve based on their doctored credentials.
What is the college success rate at the college/university initially attended. For example if 4 students were accepted to MIT, how many of those students actually graduated from MIT.
For any of you wondering about “The Ellen Kid” I just wanna make it clear that he UNDOUBTEDLY and FIRMLY does NOT fit in at Harvard - he STANDS OUT for his top-tier intellect, genuine character and relentless advocacy for the causes he cares for.
This feels like a back handed compliment lol but just so I’m getting this right, he deserves the acceptance to Harvard but he could have gone to a better school?
These kids claim they knew that their transcripts were falsified and they still thought they could just show up at an Ivy League school and pass. Pitiful...
@@jefftobbin6833 while it's not right- a lot of these kids didn't know what they were in the middle of until it was time to create the transcripts. Others were bullied/threatened into silence. While it's true the kids don't exactly deserve to attend ivy league schools without putting in the work, what they do deserve is sympathy and a second chance at a proper elementary/high school education
this doesn't make these school look bad though... "we want a kid who gets beat by their parents" TM Landry: "our student got beat and starved by his parents" Harvard: "We'll take him!" Stanford: "We'll give him a full ride plus free meals!" no one is gonna speak that these schools want kids from terrible backgrounds lmao
Ms. Mangham. I remember her from Lafayette High School 10th grade gifted English. I didn't actually TAKE gifted English (bc Honors was so much easier and an A in Honors was better than a C in Gifted), but I did have at least one nice conversation with her relating to college application.
I heard that the students learn to take the test and excel in them. That is all, that is why they get high SAT or ACT scores. If there is anything else defrauded then that’s on the school.
It was ACT from a source, but yeah, there's a reason people hate our standardized testing culture: it has zero reflection of how capable a student is at school, real work, or what skills they have outside of remembering how to correctly guess or game a test question (which have natural hacks based on how they are written and why I hated them, I didn't want to remember how to game a test system when I had to remember stuff for a written history test!!!
For me, GPA is not very credible assessment of student credential... Since some teachers will give any student an "A" for just showing up. ACT on the other hand is more credible... It is a standardize test for all student... Given that all students in TM Landry are English speakers... so ACT Reading and Writing won't be a problem for all them... But, how bout ACT Math... Students have to have at lease a functional knowledge of Algebra, Geometry, Trig, and some Calculus... I really want to know how they score on ACT... And what standard do Ivy League Schools have for admission.
Also the high performing SAT/ACT students were students already performing average or a bit better at other schools who then got recruited to TM Landry in the last year or two at the most.
soro iri uhh the ACT and SAT are so basic and shit easy. If a student is taking multiple AP courses and has high grades in them, that is obviously more reflective of their success in college.
How do you falsify transcrips? When I appled to undergrad and law school you had to send that shit electronically straight from the institution? As far as I know, TM landry cant give actual credits, can they?
@@xmuta they can. I've been where these students have been. My situation was probably if not the same as theirs. I will say I did get some opportunities that helped me along the way but those opportunities I didnt get handed out to me.
S Mutib I dont think so. If I remember correctly, they prep the students specifically for the tests and nothing more. So that’s basically what they focus on and then they fake the grades
@@roomalinec3213 So as far standardized tests go, which let's keep it real makes up a big part of the admissions process, the students and the school sure deserve wherever they get accepted to.
S Mutib I mean not really. They still had a false transcript and did not even really take some of the most basic high school classes. The SAT/ACT can only do so much for you in the admissions process and that won’t help you survive the rigorous course load of schools such as Harvard etc. Beyond those standardized tests, the students lack the true knowledge they stated in their “transcript” so they don’t deserve to get in
@@roomalinec3213 I hear what you're saying. You might very well be right. That being said, I'd still give them credit for getting admitted and couldn't give any more shits if they still mange to pull this off. You mentioned Harvard - the school that has a history of allowing rich kids who don't have even a fraction of a percent of the merit of the accepted Landry Prep students other than being privileged. Have you seen JFK's Harvard essay? The most laughable piece, but yet most reflective of how our society is structured. So a bunch of black kids in a Louisiana Prep School are churning their students just for the sake of becoming ideal candidates for Ivy admission. So what? Does it say something about them or does it say something about something greater? I just feel like pointing fingers at them isn't benefiting anyone. They aren't the first and surely will not be the last. They aren't the problem. They are a symptom.
S Mutib I agree. The kids definitely aren’t the problem and It is part of a larger issue. The privileged kids also don’t deserve to go but hey, that’s life. You have kids (such as myself) who truly worked hard in high school and even had breakdowns because they felt overwhelmed etc and they don’t get in. It stings when someone else gets in only because they’re privileged and cheated their way through
“My thoughts are for the students”… Don’t lie. Your thoughts are about making sure black people don’t get a “free ride” as Fox News is so found of saying.
