Yeah it’s so soft that their out of conference schedule is Akron, western Michigan, and Marshall. It’s one thing if you have a bad schedule but you tried to schedule good teams and they just ended up being bad by the time you get to playing them. It’s another to not even schedule a single out of conference power 5 team. Pretty weak from the school

I would recommend you looking up how both SEC championship game bids and playoff bids work nowadays. Tennessee will likely finish in front of Georgia if Tennessee can split the Bama and Georgia games. It is not east versus West anymore, it is just conference. Missouri will somehow end up as the top SEC because they have a dumb easy schedule, even though they are like the seventh SEC team.

So basically it initially stems from the 2017 UCF claim of a national championship as an undefeated G5 since they did not make the playoff as an undefeated G5. This eventually evolved into the 2021 G5 Cincy team that was undefeated getting the fourth playoff spot just to get utterly razed by an actually decent major program. by raising the playoff team amount to 12, one spot (12 realistically) is being permanently allocated to a G5 team because everyone loves an underdog story so maybe that team can upset the five seed. but also two G5 teams will probably make it to the playoff within three or four years and both will get their head coaches poached immediately after so there is no sustainability of program and it is actually bad for G5 in my opinion
