That opening UCF/ECU segment was absolutely pathetic. The icing on the cake was the QB taking a -10+ yard sack which was precisely which enabled UCF to win yhe game. Why that QB would choose to cost his team 10+ yards like that is beyond me.

THAT’S ON THE COACHING STAFF! You’ve got to have scripts and you’ve got to have your players ready mentally.
@Doomlerious
@Doomlerious 2 года назад
That's a punting situation, takes ten seconds off the clock at most, then you pin them at most at the 20 yard line. That's a terrible play call for the Coaching staff. What did they expect the QB to do?

Yeah I remember watching that game (was just last year) because I had a small wager on MTSU and couldn't for the life of me figure out why A) The Blue Raiders didn't use one of their two timeouts and B) why the announcers seemed oblivious to this egregious oversight. The announcers did eventually comment on the blunder when they came back from commercial break. The whole scenario was beyond stupid, but I guess MTSU can at least say it ultimately wouldn't have affected the outcome anyways, they got their butts kicked that day.

As a Texas fan and my dad being an LSU fan, Les Miles is the bane of our existence. How the hell did Kansas beat Texas.... lol but more importantly the 21-0 beating in the national championship speaks volumes when it comes to coaching between Les and Saban. LSU beat them 9-6 earlier in the season and Les thought, "He let's not make any adjustments or change a damn thing for the title game cause we know how to beat them". While Saban went looking through every play thinking and strategizing how to win every play. LSU has always had ridiculous offensive weapons that weren't used right because Les loved calling his beloved HB sweep to the left in the big I formation on 3rd and 6 instead of throwing the ball to Lanrdy, OBJ, or Randle. @@kmir224 Yeah, and it left 7 seconds on the clock after the field goal. I assume Wisconsin lost the game anyway, but at least it gave them a chance to touch the ball again. With no timeout, he kicks the FG with 2 seconds left on the clock and the game is over.
@bluesilver12
@bluesilver12 11 месяцев назад
I think the rationale is that Michigan state was rushing to get the field goal off therefore more prone to make a mistake and/or miss the kick. With Wisconsin taking a timeout, Michigan state has more time to calm down and be prepared. Sometimes trying to ice the kicker has the opposite effect.

@10:34 -- Looked like #9 of the Vols jumped offsides on 2nd and 1 with 32 seconds left. Also, you forgot the most famous instance of clock management failure. In the 1982 Cal-Stanford game, Stanford took a timeout with 8 seconds left in regulation to kick the go-ahead field goal. If they had allowed the clock to run down to 3 seconds, they wouldn't have needed to kick off to Cal, which allowed the Bears to do a bunch of laterals to win the game.

4:39 I'm not so sure as to what the "fail" is. If it is the pass, Murray was not trying to pass to the flats, but rather, a fade to Mitchell in the end zone, but Mosley tipped *just enough* of it to alter the direction of the pass to the flats-receiver Mitchell, who unfortunately fell down. Now, if the "fail" is Mitchell falling down or Murray not spiking the ball to kill the clock, that is accurate.

The Iowa one was mind-boggling. They were all set up to get the first down and then a quick spike. Everyone was in position and then, for some reason Iowa uses their last time out. What makes it even worse is that they were coming out of a time out on the previous play. All of this should’ve been arranged ahead of time, and there is no excuse to have any confusion in that situation. Not to mention the quarterback completing a short pass inbounds on the next play, where it was unlikely the receiver would be able to get out of bounds.
