When Mahadeviah Gowda, a lab assistant in a junior college looked for avenues to augment his income 25 years ago, he hit upon the idea of an egg rice cart in the suburb of Rajajinagar in West Bengaluru. Wanting to keep things simple, his preparations shun typical egg rice ingredients such as green chillies, capsicum tomatoes, ginger and garlic, in favour of a home blend of minimal dry spices and an explosively hot chilli mix. When i first landed in Bangalore with a huge debt back home from a lost business in 2012 my salary was not enough to repay my debts. The 20 Rs egg rice from the similar carts was the only meal used to have those days made me full and energetic. Now after 10 years I have my home, built my own company in Bangalore, but I still do stop at these carts often. Now I have eaten from all 5 stars in Bangalore but nothing will win over the taste from these carts for me. I spent 5 years in the 1990s in manipal as an engineering student. We had a row of similar food carts (known simply as “Carts”) operated by lab assistants turning out marvellous concoctions of eggs, spices, tomatoes & onions, noodles etc. + gallons of black coffee and most importantly, beedis during exams. They operated from about 9pm until about 3am. #nostalgia

Most humble human being mahadevanna.... E works at govt college near by to his cart. This is actually his 2nd place in the same corridor. Earlier e used to make spicy & juicy kabab's also. But people who comes to walking in the near by park complained to bbmp officials & e was forced to move little bit further from the park, whatsoever e still has regular customers lining up. After this vlog from Kripal sir may be it will be very difficult to maintain crowds.... Thank you so much Kripal sir 🙏🙏🙏

With due respect, I tried the egg rice and egg masala a month back and honestly it wasn't upto mark considering all the hype given by few food vloggers. It was evident as there is no ratings given by Kripal sir. Just chill powder rice with very rare egg pieces.

Guru, appreciate your perspective, here’s ours: Whilst we are empathetic towards small business owners, the most important prerequisite for any eatery, big or small, to featured on either of our channels is that the place should have its share of loyal customers who return for the food over and over again over time. This place certainly has and therefore qualifies. The thing with taste though is that it is subjective to one’s palate, this one is perhaps not suited to yours, but it is to many others as you will also see in most comments here. I have tried the egg rice you refer to and have relished it in a video too, it’s very different from this one. Our job is to taste and present the food threadbare as is, like for instance the different styles of popular egg rice that exist in this case. It is for the viewers to decide whether it’s for them or not. Cheers!

Just now had egg masala fried rice at Mahadevanna's. The rice was spicier to the core and delicious. It's a must try for evry bengalurean fried rice lover.

Hi Sir, Please give a try at The Rameshwaram cafe ,they have a outlet in indiranagar and Jayanagar .i never tried there but the plcae is highly crowded all day long.
