Bob is hugely influenced by the Stax Soul Singers. Wilson Picket, Otis Redding, Rufas Thomas etc Hid earliest material is straight up soul and & early rock, then he really developed his own thing with that strong foundation.

Just reposting comment from your reaction of Floyd: Bro, you’re my hero. The fact that someone at 18 yrs old during the time of this reaction loves Pink Floyd as much as we did at your age and defined a generation and you recognize it’s the pinnacle of music-can’t get better than this instrumentally or lyrically and without faux modern technology. I’m 54 going on 55 in September and your reaction to Bob Seger’s Night Moves drove me here. A nostalgic song about young love that was the song of the summer back in ‘76 while I was at sleep away camp hearing it blast from one of my counselor’s transitor radios in my bunk all summer long and bringing back memories of the summer I danced with a girl for the first time at a social. If you want to hear Seger’s best live vocal listen to “Turn the Page” live! You give us hope that this new generation understands and appreciates the music, bands and artists that came before!

Well, you've hit on another of my favorites! Bob Seger is a fabulous song writer and singer, so many great tunes. And, yep, he sounds that good live. You can find YT videos to verify that. :) Very nice reaction, thanks! Edit: Speaking of blues, you've reacted to a few songs by another favorite of mine, Led Zeppelin, and if you dig blues, you should give a listen to more of their blues songs if you haven't already.

I was fortunate enough to see Bob live 13 times, first in 1977 and last in 2019, two weeks before his final retirement tour show ~ Bob came to be known as the Road Warrior, King of Arena Rock and Legend of Live, because he gigged like 300 nights/year ~ On many songs, I always thought he sounded better live ~ His 1976 Live Bullet album is still considered one of the best live albums of all time ~ Do yourself a musical favor and listen to it from start to finish ~ His cover of Tina Turner's Nutbush City Limits will blow your socks off!!

This made my morning, especially after the dentist! this was much better than a lollipop afterwards hahaa Bob Seger is such a backdrop to my life, as a kid raised on radio, so I love these reactions to help me to remember not to take these greats for granted! We tended to get burned out from overkill on the radio, believe it or not... I saw Bob live almost 10 years ago now, he does still sound this great, but the crowd was a bunch of STIFFS! I jumped up, singing along & dancing to "Hollywood Nights"

And it is such a well-written song as well. Everything about it is just well written and well-constructed and then of course his voice can bring so much emotion to it. You ought to hear his slow ballad called Turn the Page. I just realized something fascinating about the song. It got popular when I was in junior high and high school and I went out and bought the album and played it a lot and we all knew it and like I said it was on the radio all the time. Along with others of his hits. But this song is about a guy in the late 70s who is reminiscing about his teenage years. So the things he is talking about were exactly the things I was going through being a teen myself even though it was a long time later than the setting of the story. And then in that slow part, he hints that he is much older, he can feel Autumn closing in. And his mind drifts back to those hot summer teenage nights with that girl where they taught each other so much, trying to lose those awkward teenage blues, as he says. But listening to it just now, and it still sounds absolutely great to me, in fact it sounds better than it ever did because I understand a lot more about singing now, but it struck me that here I am at age 60 listening to an old song from my teen years and remembering those times, which in turn was a song about an older man remembering back to HIS teen years and the things they did in the 1960s. .

Bob Seger is a favorite - He is a 13 time Grammy winner and also in the Rock & Roll hall of fame. Known as the Detroit Boy that is one of the best story tellers and reflects upon life in many ways. Plenty of Bob Seger to listen to from 2 + 2, Night Moves; Running Against the Wind; Like a Rock; Shamed by the Moon; Turn the Page; Just Roll With it ; You'll Accompany Me; and Main Street.

Seger had that strong voice into his 70's. His catalog is endless and has a little of everything as far as genres he does. Blues, country and of course rock and roll. He is a music treasure who was underrated for sure, so its nice to see you cover and appreciate Bob. Want a bluesy song from him try 'Come to Poppa' or even better would be his Live album, one of top selling live albums by anyone. Enjoy

"Does he sound that good live?". Don't take our word for it. Check out a few cuts off of "Live Bullet" (I mean, the best thing would be play it end-to-end). I could rattle off a few that I love (and I'm sure people will), but a lot of them are on that album. Bob and the Silver Bullet Band were a raging freight train. Do it. If you like Bob, you should also checkout Van Morrison. If Bob wasn't directly influenced by Van (and I'd bet he was), then he must have listened to same things. I hear a lot of Van in Bob's performances. I get the generation thing and I guess I'm inclined to agree; so much has been lost and it probably isn't coming back. But having said so, a lot of us went through the same thing you're going through now. You start tracing it back. Who did these incredible people listen to? And, in turn, who did *they* listen to, and so on. Rock of this era is a great thing, but there's *so* much incredible music, going all the way back to the beginning of audio recording. You could easily spend your life tracking that stuff down and it would be a *good* life. EDIT: OK, I'll throw in Main Street. It's a groove.
@DrewG-wd8ql

Uh oh, now you've done it. You've fallen into the very deep rabbit hole of Bob Seger. You can pick any song from his catalog and you will love it. He had so many hits and left so many memories on me. This was my song in high school so many years ago. "Turn the Page" is an anthem of his time on the road and is truly amazing and a must listen.

Love it! Bob Seger is the man! Such a good story teller & vocalist. I saw him in concert in the 80s. I love how he uses double meanings in his lyrics. He starts out talking about workin' on those night moves. "Moves" is a thing. A noun. Then, in the breakdown, he says "Ain't it funny how the night moves. Changes the meaning and the impact of that line.
