Not at all! People transfer from a range of schools. I knew people who transferred from peer institutions, state schools, small liberal arts schools, and community colleges

I knew pretty early on that I wanted to transfer, but I waited until winter break to start working on apps. I would say focus on getting good grades in the fall if you think you may want to transfer. As for ECs, just choose something that genuinely interests you because you will need to write about it in your essays.

there isnt a set GPA u need to transfer! theres a lot more that goes into your application than grades

Yes, I did! And I thought I was going to like my initial school but ended up figuring out through being in college that it wasnt the right fit for me for my undergrad experience

I went to a four-year public university for one year and then transferred to uchicago, so it wasnt a community college but you can definitely still transfer from one!

Yes Id say so! Keep in mind- Grades arent the only factor in transferring, however they are definitely a big part of the application. I’d feel confident in your gpa!

Why would you want to transfer from a strong liberal arts college to a university? Good liberal arts colleges like Pomona, Williams, Amherst, etc are just as effective in imparting undergraduate education as a top university

@@navinadv as a nontraditional student from the Midwest, I don't fit in with a small and close knit community filled with just 18 year olds from Cali. And it's not a top lac it's maybe t40

@@Nicole-ws3pm oh I assumed you were referring to one of the Claremont Consortium schools. Top 40 is still good. Pitzer and Skidmore I think are in that range. Remember Obama started at Occidental so anything is possible. Good luck. BTW I know kis from Top 10 liberal arts schools who are considering transferring to larger universities like North-western, JHU, Penn, etc. There are many good reasons to consider a transfer,

Yes exactly - I focused more on my college activities and grades, but also included the high school achievements that I thought would be most relevant!

At UVA I got a 4.0, but you definitely dont need straight As to transfer!
