There are some schools whose through the year tests come from USMLE test makers! But like Anne D the main consensus is def to prepare yourself

To be honest, I thought that was an odd comment. Not sure if she meant in terms of what they teach or what they provide you with resource wise. ALL medical schools teach you what you should know to prepare for boards. Yes you have to study on your own but that doesn't mean that the school doesn't prepare you. If you look at any syllabus for any med school class, they usually say what education goals should be met with each lecture relevant to topics that are tested on USMLE.

Every school has different curriculums, just like every undergraduate college biology class will. To give a specific example, some medical schools will focus on certain histologies more than others, etc. There's no doubt there is variation in school curriculums and some do "prep" you more than others for the USMLE in their curriculum just like some undergraduate school biology, chemistry classes prep you "better" for the MCAT. The variation may not be hugely significant, cause you do have to study on your own but it does exist. That's what I meant! :) Harman, shaman and i have conversations about it all the time, based on the different medical schools they attend and where I'm interviewing! :)

how do you usually spend your winter break? do you just chill or work on other projects
@MedBros
@MedBros 6 лет назад
For me it varies. If the next semester has something I am going to have trouble with, I usually spend some of my time preparing for that. Other times I just chill and do things I like to refresh my mind!

Hey shaman, I wasn't sure if you answered this in any of your videos but did you take physics in high school? Or do you think it would help someone thinking about going into the medical field to take physics in high school even though it isn't a prerequisite to most programs?
@MedBros
@MedBros 6 лет назад
+Thiviya Ravikkumar I actually didn't take physics in high school! I didn't because I already filled my schedule with other things and I dont find it the most interesting subject. I think I learned it on my own during a summer but it definitely isn't something you need in high school. If you like physics and/or are good at it, then take physics. Otherwise it won't hurt to replace it with another class. Either way you aren't required to use it much, its really not a factor in applications, and learning it in high school vs college for the first time is probably similar. Hope that helps!

If you are Indian 3.9 or higher, Arab 3.7, White 3.6 or higher. If you are Chinese 4.0 or higher. Black or Latino 3.0 or higher. Native American just get a degree. Jewish you are in. Kaur Beauty is very smart but she is Indian and that's a huge disadvantage in the application process and also you can tell they are not very athletic. So if you are Indian or Chinese make sure you are a good athlete. Also if you are Indian or Chinese you don't need to volunteer because your parents are already doctors and they can easily lie about your referrals.
