Condensed notes are so key. I sometimes make condensed notes of condensed notes to the point that I only memorize one key word or phrase per disease or drug, which allows my brain to extrapolate many small facts from the one word/phrase. This allows you to memorize so much more as you only have a few words/phrases in your active memory and can use that to pull out more depth of info.

Honestly, I think that you are an inspiration to many of us. I greatly appreciate all of the information that you have shared in this video as well as on other videos. I would greatly appreciate it if you could make a video where you talk about the extracurriculars you have done throughout undergrad, and tips for time management. Please like the comment if you agree with me and want a video of what I stated :). Thank You :)

Hi Shaman, Always helpful. Can you make a follow-up to memorization while IN MED SCHOOL and the techniques you have employed as the memorization has become more in depth please? Thank you very much for the great videos.

Your videos are awesome, to the point and super concise (thank you!!). I like you're strategies, and my two favorites are the visualization (tip 2) and (tip 4) having emotions about what I'm studying! Those always help me the most, and it makes sense, we remember things or events when we experience them :) Thanks again!

This is so helpful. How would you say is the best way to study for science exams or quizzes which are all fill in the blank? I've been struggling with that unfortunately.
@LimerenceSubs
@LimerenceSubs 6 лет назад
Emily Best thing for this is to make questions about the certain topic you are studying. Make the questions day 1 while you revise, answer the questions in day 2. Check straight away. Do so everyday for multiple topics per day. If you are short on time then i would suggest making the questions in the morning, then revising and then you can do the questions in the evening. Recheck straight away. Make sure you have an hour or two spare to revise the questions you got wrong. ^^ Hope this helps. Source: Final year Science student. ❤

Is he suggesting to make dense notes from fluff material and memorize that or to find dense material in the first place? Also where would you find that dense material because I have no idea haha
@shivanishastri4285

Hey! Can you suggest some dense sources to memorize off of?
@justsomeone3362
@justsomeone3362 6 лет назад
What this video fails to address, is that he doesn't consider the factor of the type of learner the viewer is. He's assuming that everyone is a visual learner (i.e. some can audio learners, verbal learners in having to talk things out), plus, sometimes the best "dense" material is your own notes or rewriting them in an organized way that your brain feels is the most efficient and dense. 2/3s of these techniques are pretty much common knowledge when you talk with classmates and their studying habits. Yeesh the clickbait video titles from this guy are so arrogant.

What works for me is to teach any new material to any inanimate object lol, seriously though, everytime I'm trying to absorb or memorize a new term or concept I turn to my pencil and act like I am teaching it to...it lol, usually using an anology like a teacher would, very weird way, and my neighbors probably think I am schizophrenic or manic but it works for me lol
@biomedicalscientist4230
@biomedicalscientist4230 4 года назад
Alan Martinez That’s actually not crazy! I’ve tried teaching family members as a means to better remember the material but no ones really that interested in science or are too advanced in the field and find my info too basic haha. I might just use your technique🤔

Is research experience absolutely needed to get into medical school? I’m currently scribing while in undergrad and it eats up most of my time. I also hold 2 leadership positions on campus but I’ve only done a 6 week summer research program.
@chelseagow993
@chelseagow993 6 лет назад
I know three cases of individuals that were accepted to top-40 medical schools (Harvard, UCLA, & UF) in the nation who had zero research experience. If you can fit it in, of course it's better, but not something to worry intensely about. Some specific medical schools show heavy research attention (you can usually tell by their mission statement/programs) which will tell you how they would gauge an app. w/ a lack of research. This is obviously just my opinion, however. Definitely ask other sources. I'm not all-knowing lol I just thought I would peep in since he didn't reply.

Great topic but only moderately helpful when you have 5 minutes to discuss this topic with no visuals. Sitting at the edge of your bed wearing a military outfit is not a visual. Also when you are at genius level like this kid, 4.0 Pre-Med from UC Berkeley, which is maybe the most difficult university program in the world to succeed at, memorizing comes very easy.
