John Miller was an excellent reporter. He really understood the LCN better than most. This roundtable was very insightful considering everything we know now.
That is true. But looking back at these videos from this channel, as fascinating as they are in their own time and place, we often see now, how wrong they were about the details. For example, now we know, Chin was squarely behind Persico. And likely the Luccheses too. Miller said here that the other families are squarely behind Orena. And that's inaccurate. And on the MobFax's, John Miller is wrong a lot. That said, considering he was getting all his info real time before people flipped and 30 years passed by, he was still obviously magnificently sourced.
It's fairly dysfunctional. But you know when you have a bunch of greedy guys that didn't come from the best finishing schools I'm not sure what the world expects.
@@williegaga listen. I was born in the 80s and grew up around gang wars. You can DEFINITELY remember things like that when you are a kid growing up in close proximity to it. Anyone who says otherwise clearly didn’t grow up around something like that and is therefore CLUELESS about it.
@@mic9check I'm a tad bit skeptical of the abuse rap he got. Everyone knew Rose was cheeky with the ladies for years and laughed about it..some female had it in for him and....it was curtains.
@nagone11 because he thinks he's such a ladies man and funny, and hits on every women thinking he's such a smooth casanova, but actually came off like a creep.
As soon as I saw Ed McDonald just now, I remembered him from Goodfellas! Apparently he portrayed himself when the Hills were considering witness protection. Cool! I’m surprised I remember that far back.
Listen to how much detail they are openly discussing on TV. Just shows how finished the mob was becoming in 1991. They should have never known what was going on.
They always talked about the mob. Since prohibition. Even if they don’t really know what’s going on. The media, newspapers, etc. This was after several books were written, movies, Joe Bonanno’s biography.
@@MOBFAX One example is when they reopened the books in the mid 70's, there was a newspaper article on it. They even talked about how Carlo Gambino was reluctant about inducting new members. The media knew this because there were undercover informants giving info to law enforcement, then LE feeding the media that same info.
His father was very close with Frank Costello. So he was tolerated more than the average interviewer on the street sticking a microphone in their faces. I wouldn't say he was a wannabe. He worked putting them in jail when he worked for the NYPD & FBI. I don't see where he could be mistaken as a wannabe. If he wanted to be around that life on the criminal side he easily could have. Obviously he could never be inducted, but he could have associated.
Maybe you have a video from the scenes of the war in the Colombo family of 1991-1993? They committed 12 murders, and more than that, unsuccessful attacks and shootings or just injuries with shot cars, it would be very interesting to see such a thing. Maybe there is a report from the scene of the shelling of Scarpa, or the murders of Minerva and Imbergamo, Joe Scopo?
Ed McDonald made a cameo in Goodfellas. And John Miller interviewed Bin Laden in 1998 in Afghanistan. Miller subsequently worked in counter terrorism and intelligence for the LAPD, FBI, and now with the NYPD.
@@anthonydeleon7996 Really? I must be mistaken as i thought Sammy said on a podcast of his that there had to be a sit down when he switched to the Gambino's as he was known as a stone cold killer having already put the work in and still wanted by Colombo hierarchy because of this.
Sammy Gravano who started out with the Colombos mentioned in one of his podcasts that the Colombos although a smaller family were extremely violent and tended to resort to it moreso than the other families describing them as 'rough and tumble'. With them it was essentially 'kill this guy, whack that guy' Seemed to be their answer to everything. From everything I've heard from others and read, Greg Scarpa was a big reason this war got so out of hand.
John Miller is a friend of ours and nobody knows.... Uh Johnny boy here is Amico Nostro!! Solid!! He can also help yous with that one thing with those people over.... U know those ppl. 😂😂😂
O.C. is so strong based on prohibition laws. When you make illegal goods or services demanded by a significant portion of the public, racketeers will emerge to fill the void. By the way, you can make anything illegal, doesn't make it a crime. Nothing to do with gambling, drugs, sex workers, loan sharking are crimes....nothing! (this is an uncomfortable truth) These guys who make a living, at least in part, around a mountain of prohibition laws would never in a 1000 years admit that. Violating natural law will eventually destroy a culture...and just look at what this culture has become.
To tell the truth, it was a crazy time, a teenager was killed in a bagel store, a teenager was shot in the head in a Park... I think that more than 12 people out of those killed were victims of the war, since I found at least 3 murders in newspaper articles that are usually not associated with this war.
