The way I understand it, Col. Parker submitted the outrageous bill to Vernon and Vernon confronted Elvis with it. Elvis was steaming hot! When he cooled off he realized there wasn’t any way to pay that ridiculous bill. Bottom line, Elvis changed his mind about firing Col. Parker. Sure wish he could of followed through with it.
