Project 2025, a conservative blueprint aimed at consolidating power in the presidency and institutionalizing Christian nationalism, includes an international framework with dangerous implications for women and LGBTQ communities around the globe. Under the guise of Christian values, American conservatives are pressuring countries reliant on foreign aid to adopt anti-abortion and anti-LGBTQ legislation. “They’re going to use reproductive policies as well as policies on LGBTQ people to try and control different nations around the world,” says Anthea Butler, an MSNBC analyst and chair of the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. “The U.S. government under the guise of Christian nationalism, [is] trying to infiltrate countries and control them.”

Look back to the religious wars. Catholics persecution of other religions such as Protestants which led to some of the deadliest wars, French wars of religion 1562-1598 claimed 2-4 million lives. Thirty Years war 1618-1648 which claimed 4-12 million lives. Germany lost 1/3 of its population, Europe as a whole lost 1/10. I am not against religion, but against people who abuse religion and use it to control people.

But in a nation famous the world over for religious freedom, it’s humiliating that we have religious zealots in office who are trying to stuff their favorite Middle Eastern mythology down the throats of every citizen. There is a moral maxim "if you are aware of abuse and do nothing about it you are complicit with that abuse." I think most people of good will would agree with this. Don't you? In light of that moral maxim this god of Abraham-- worshiped by the Jews, Christians and Muslims-- is horrendously immoral. This god is said to be all-powerful, all-knowing, omnipresent. So, he literally watches children being abused and tortured-- even by his own priests, pastors, rabbis and imams-- and does absolutely nothing. In light of that why would one expect any better from those who worship such a god?

When I was 12 years old and a Baptist I read the Bible for myself cover to cover. After 2 weeks finished and went back and the debate was on with more teachers coming in but I held to what the Bible said not to what they were saying because they did not match. Words fail me. How could something so important and so damaging go under the radar for so much of the public?
