I knew the main colours, but I still learned a lot! Thank you so much! Can I make a request for a specific video? I want to learn the different objects in the house: bed, table, door, couch, mirror, pillow, plate, fork, knife, spoon...anything. It doesn't have to be the next video, whenever you have time.
Hi. I wanted to ask you can you tell me where can i get the right and exact colour names that are used in korea because i am learning korean and i am getting a lot different names of the colour and cant pick which one is right. It will be greate if you can help 💜 :)
So in Korean light blue is “Sky color”… That’s so cool! In my country we call it “ Water color “ ! (水色). Just in case any Japanese learners wanted to know haha LOL
Just starting out with Korean, and thought I'd start with some easy vocabulary. Guess not!! LOL But I like how you used the colored pencils to show the range of colors that the words could reference. I'll come back to this video when I've got a little more confidence^^
I speak Vietnamese, where I can only sound out and understand the *Sino-Korean words, since it's the same in Vietnamese, just pronounced a little differently.*
I just have a question why do they have many names for just one color? does each name have a purpose? and are we supposed to learn every name or just the sino ones.
That's a good question. The first reason is, before Korean alphabet was invented in 1443, using Chinese character was the only way to write down and that's why there are many sino-Korean words exist in Korean language. The 2nd reason, most color names have a syllable "색"(which is a sino-Korean as well) at the end, but when it come to pure colors such as red, yellow, blue, black, and white, they have two versions for each color, attaching "색" or not. The 3rd reason is, some English words started to be used in the language such as "brown색" and "pink색". The 4th reason is, some version is derived from dialects. And probably there are more reasons for that.

There's not much differences in usages except the 흑색 and 백색 which were derived from Chinese Characters. Korean Alphabet was invented in 1443, and before that, writing in Chinese Characters were the only way to write colors back then, and probably that's why 흑색 and 백색 started to be used along with the pure Korean ways in Korea. About the other ones, there must be a reason but I don't really know at this moment.
Hello, thanks for this video. Could you please explain why for white, 하양 is "hayeong" but for grey 희색 is pronounced like "pael sek" while they both start with "ㅎ"? From what I understand ㅎ is like an aspired H in roman writing/pronunciation. Thanks
never in my korean life have i ever heard some of these sino korean ways of saying colors LOL i’ve heard of some but red and yellow are very unfamiliar to me
검은색& 검정색 has almost no difference in tone or usage. 검은색, 검정색 is most frequently used in everyday situations to describe color. It’s not too formal but not informal enough to look out of place in a college essay or a manual of some kind. 까만색 is the least used word among 4. it’s kind of an informal word and a little bit of a childish word. You wouldn’t use this word in an academic essay. 흑색 is a Sino-Korean and therefore is more used in technical or academic vocabulary and documentation. (E.g. 흑색증: melanosis, 흑인: Black race) For instance, you have 3 different words in English to refer to a same body part. Tummy, abdomen, stomach. They differ in usage and formality. It’s kinda like that.

The first three minutes is pretty much useless for 8% of men since that's the percentage of men who are color blind. (Only 1 out of 200 women are color blind.) I assumed they would be arranged in ROYGBIV order so I was really surprised the first one was dark brown.
