Color-Changing Car Is BMW's Newest Gimmick

BMW’s new i Vision Dee was built with all the bells and whistles one would expect from German engineering, but it’s wrapped in E Ink technology, similar to a tablet or e-reader, that will change the color of the car’s exterior. The company showed off the midsize car at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show. Dee, which stands for Digital Emotional Experience, can shift into 32 different shades. If the driver is feeling indecisive, Dee can be a combination of colors at the same time.

it will probably have a safety feature where you can only change the colour of the car when the car is in park. some cars already have features that only activate when the car is in park.

I like and hate the driver screen only when stopped. When I drive my Honda pilot half of the settings you can do wile driving and some others don’t let you so we have to wait for me to put it in park even when the passangers uses it

Fantastic for vans, company cars, and event vehicles where you can change the logo design in a click, no respray needed. Even police and ambulances could have the whole car flashing blue and red in emergencies. The scope is huge!

Black objects have greater absorbable and greater emissivity, so you’d lose heat faster in a black car, and would gain it faster too. Basically since you want the inside thermally insulated from the hot or cold outside depending on the season, you want to use a reflective shielding regardless.
