Best I've seen for color correction, and using the curves. Learned more about colors in the first 6 minutes, than I have in 10 years.

Hi, Big hugs Bro. I am amazed on watching this. I am a self learned CMYK Graphic Designer and working for more than 15 years and hardly take RGB works.. I always got embarrassed in color correcting an RGB image, as i didn't understood the RGB color correcting technique. So i always change the mode of an image from RGB to CMYK, then color correct it and change back the mode to RGB. And now watching this video, I am crystal clear about Colors. I am really thankful to you for educating me about the opposite colors of R = C, G = M, B = Y. Love u very much.

To find the midpoint with curves do the following: On top of the background make a new layer filled with 50% grey + blending mode to difference. On top of this put the treshold layer and put it to the far left up to level 4 - 7. Then you'll see the midpoint as a black spot. Mark it and turn the grey and treshold layer off. Go to your curves layer and with your midtone eyedropper hit the marked spot. Hope I'm right with that.

Love your video's! There is a way of finding an accurate grey level in an image. You need to create a blank layer, fill with 50% grey and set the blend mode to difference. Then create a threshold layer above it. (I usually create a curves layer above that as well, but turn the eyeball off temporarily). The properties box on the threshold layer will show the grey. Move the slider to the left - exactly as you did with black. That shows the 50% grey.

Thanks for the great tutorial, you are very good at teaching. I decided to try this one on my own using my own photos. After some time, I decided I needed to look at your tutorial again. Suddenly I realized I was using the same airplane, just a slightly different angle. Same light though. The shot is taken when entering the main gate at the old Alameda Navel Air Station. Just thought I would mention that... And the USS Hornet is a great photo op as well. Best
