I have a 50 watt fiber laser and the software, stainless steel only for color marking, and the training for set up are the key to annealing color. Reds and Blues are permanent and excellent. My clients are mostly firearms enthusiasts.
50 watt also, use for porting & engraving. Would you mind sharing your color settings? We have color, but settings are locked out by manufacturer. I can't use color on my rotary tool.
I'm a Jewelry Cad Designer and I use a form 2. We got the laser a year ago & all I have left to figure out is the color settings. Great 3D lases on this machine.
Not needed, i'm around .001 line spacing, 1200 speed, 30 power & 60 khz. that gives me pink on one king of yeti type cup. Question - Looking at my settings is there something I can do that can improve my depth of color. Different Stainless- Different results. I working on building a scale but time is very limited. Need short cut. Can trade some of my skills. Great Cad designer & animator here..
@@reverend1334 if you had a plastic that changes to specific colors at specific laser intensity's (depth of oxide layer) then yes. this basicly works on anything that changes color due to heat and then never turns back to the previous color. (heat stainless steel up with a torch and you see a whole rainbow of colors come by.) this is because heat makes it oxidise. and the thickness of the oxide layer gives off a certain color. changing the laser intensity (or speed) will allow you to set a precise oxide depth and thus a precise color.

Hi was this a 60watt laser? Was it in focus or not? Or how do you apply the settings so there is a reference point to work from. Or what method do you use to get to the desired colour you want?

so this is just verry precise changing of color of the materials by exposure time. (like the metal turns all the colors of the rainbow almost as you heat it up with a torch. and then this laser just uses verry precise controlled method)
No, it is an interference effect similar to dichroic coatings, the pulse duration of the laser determines the thickness of the oxide layer which determines the color reflected.
no wonder i tried hard to mark color on stainless, but unsuccessful also, the most sharp burn mark i made only dark grey, then blue, red i still get it, but very hard to see the color, only use light reflection only can view the color.. now i know, is using mopa tech.. so your company producing laser marking machine?

I have a standard fiber laser machine. If for example I engrave a pen with my current machine for 5 seconds, will it be the same speed if I use the MOPA machine to engrave red/blue colors? Or is it slower than the regular fiber machine?

We need to crowd source these settings. I have an extensive setting chart made for different grades of stainless. Spotty at best though. Willing to share if someone out there with a 50 watt fiber laser has the time to work with me. I would like to see these setting made public. Tired of the secrets..
