This was my first attempt with using resin to fill something that was laser engraved. There were mistakes, however I believe the end product sill looks pretty darn good! This was more of a proof on concept to build upon. There might be some bigger and better videos later on using this process! Stay tuned!

Had no clue you could do a clean up pass on a charred engraving! That is amazing! The resin infill turned out great, especially for your first attempt. Thanks for the video!

Yeah, this was actually my first attempt to cleanup a charred engraving. Typically with a fiber laser you raise the frequency, lower power, and a faster pass. So I tried it here. And it worked!

Very cool. I've been experimenting with this as well but with much larger regions for the resin inlay. The amount of area I etched out is similar in size relative to the whole piece as if you did this to your Christmas decorations. I don't recommend what I tried; there is just too much energy being dumped into the wood and it causes the wood to deform; cutting out the inlay pieces and glueing onto a backer like you did works much better. The board design you did looks like it lends itself much better to this process and turned out very nicely. That gives me hope for future use of this process.

An N95 is only sufficient for sanding resin. You should wear a respirator mask with vapor filters.

from what ive been seeing the laser only works one way, runs left to right turns off returns to left starts again, most laser machines goes back an forth, hope they get it fix soon.

You were obviously concerned about the red epoxy recessing below the surface. Perhaps that might be a potential problem for a cutting board because of getting food materials in the areas where epoxy did not fill up to the surface. However, I really like the dished appearance of the areas that have not filled up to the surface. To each their own.

I just wasn’t prepared enough with the first color red. I was leaning as I was going. I did like the red more, just like you. However, when you go to sand, if you under fill, you have the chance of damaging edges with the sander. Think I will make another video, with resin and lasers, but on a bigger scale. It supports MAC, Windows, Android and iOS and can be used on Deasktop/laptop/tablet/phone.
