Ala'a is a Palestinian woman who dreamed to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and kept going until she made her dream come true. After failing two parts of the CPA Exam twice, having wife and mom responsibilities in addition to her full-time job were strong reasons for her to quit her CPA journey. However, Ala'a managed to overcome all the obstacles and stress she had in her life to pass the CPA Exam and become a CPA. After realizing she was about to lose credits for two CPA parts, Ala'a took a brave decision to get out of her comfort zone and give the remaining exams a last try. She had to endure the pain of leaving her newborn baby to travel to sit for the exams until she finally passed the exams to become a CPA.
Today, Ala'a helps CPA candidates pass the CPA Exam by motivating, supporting and educating them.

Thank you for the information. Do I have to be working in public accounting to take the CPA exam? I just completed my master's degree in Accounting here in Colorado but I don't work in public Accounting.

I already sent an email to the (NASBA) and because i am graduated from Damascus university Economic | accountant department they said they can’t accept it because unable to verify report or they eventually had official documents sent directly from the school.:( So can u assist me with what can i do to to complete the verification?

In the past, alot of states used to accept the CA. These days most of them changed their requirements and do not accept the CA for the CPA exam educational requirements. However, if you have B.COM and a CA, it may work, but the process is a bit complicated. Alaska, Guam, Colorado, Maine and Ohio may still accept partial or full Indian CA credits. I advice you to double check with these state boards before applying.

I would like to apply in colorado state. my education qualifications are from Nepal .what is the process apply for me.do I Need to have master degree in Accounting or NOT.

No, you dont need a master to sit for the exam. You must have a Bachelor Degree with 120 credit hours including 27 hours in accounting and 21 hours in business. Your accounting hours must include an audit course in accordance with GAAS

@@cpaexcellence Thank you ! infact my country has different education system than us. how can i check my 4 Years Bachelor degree is enough to sit the exam or not? what is the first process i have to do in order to sit the cpa exam. Finally i became colorado resident and i am planning to join the school in colorado. I would be very greatful if you could help me on whole process mam.

Hello, a B.com and CA final usually gives 120 credit hours. I recommend you apply to Guam, it accepts 120 hours for the exam and licensing

B.com alone is not enough-it gives you only 90 hours, if you have CA final or post accounting diploma they will help you meet the 120 hours to sit for the exam. Guam accepts 120 for exam and licensing, go for it once you are ready

@@ebennoble5270 You must apply for the CPA exam in one of the 55 U.S. jurisdictions and not UAE. If you are eligible and your application is approved by the state you applied to, you can then schedule the location to sit for the exam in any U.S state or any international location like the UAE, that is suitable for you. Keep in mind that there are some states that do not allow sitting in international locations, visit NASBA.org to learn these states.

@@ebennoble5270 It depends on the number of parts you are planning to apply to. If you are planning to apply to one part only, for example, you will have plenty of time to study it after you submit your application. Your application usually needs from 4 to 6 weeks to be approved, once approved, you will receive a NTS which gives you the period you have to take the exams. This period varies from a state to another but is mostly 6 months, so you will have to sit within 6 months. If you are applying for more than 1 part, you must have some study progress before you submit your application.

@@cpaexcellence oh i see...also I have done b.com(3year) in India and my Marks statement states that I have 146 credits. Am I eligible or does the us calculate creds differently?
