Tucked between Aspen and Leadville, the Twin Lakes form the largest glacial waters in Colorado. Surrounded by 13,000-foot peaks, the breathtaking beauty of the two lakes draws a constant stream of visitors. But long before Western settlers and tourists discovered this mining area, the Ute people lived on this land. Many broken treaties later, the Ute were removed. Can this now be reconciled?

Is there anyone keeping the Ute's from using and enjoying the land? We can't live in the past.

The Twin Lakes Reservoir and Canal Company built a masterpiece ... The Bureau of Reclamation destroyed it

I think we all understand that the Utes lived in the area before we defeated them and took the land by right of conquest. We won. That's the way things were back then. Every video doesn't have to keep regurgitating the Ute stuff.

These never ending Native American tragedy stories have been beaten to death. We get it-The Indians lost. At this point it’s all about reinforcing white guilt and virtue signaling ad nauseam. Let’s not forget that Native American tribes were fighting and killing each other long before white Europeans arrived. The Cheyenne, the Sioux, the Arapahoe, the Crow and others have been fighting each other over territory for centuries. That is a historical fact. In the interest of balance, why aren’t those stories also told here?

You have to understand that to the puritans and Christians the Natives weren't very impressive. If you meet a Native today its hard to find one to actually look up too. They didnt have any technogy. They didnt even have the horse or wheels. The chiefs had multiple wives, and Squaws could be bought. So I dont feel as sorry for them either. Even Dances with Wolves, a lot of Leftist propoganda

Notice how the women look miserable and abused in all the old photos
@bethewalt7385
@bethewalt7385 Год назад
Which women? The native women? History lesson/common sense time, during that time there are 2 things really important to keep in mind, first: the shutter of the camera had to be open for 10 minutes or longer for each picture, instructions were, don't move, don't flinch, be perfectly still, set the timer for 10 minutes go look in the mirror and smile, nearly impossible, your mouth/lips will often begin to quiver and twitch, life was difficult, especially for the aboriginal people, days were long ,work was hard, for everyone, especially the women, mothers, the gatherers, the weavers, etc..you'll see the same expressions on white folks in photos during the era, primarily for reason number one but for all the same reasons as well, it feels like no one can deduce what makes sense for the time/era..... .

My family encroached upon Ute families because of the Irish potato genocide. I see us as having a common enemy. Greedy owners and their capitalist system. I weep for my Irish family farm that the lords drove us away from. Greed vs love of the land.

@@MM-xc2bt The Utes did give up their land...involuntarily in the 1800s. They gave it up by having it forcibly and violently stolen from them by the white mining settlers. Or is that being to woke for you?

White Europeans do not have a monopoly on land conquest. The Native American tribes fought among themselves and stole each others land for centuries. The Arapahoe, the Sioux, the Cheyenne, the Apache all fought and killed their enemies for hunting grounds and territory.
