Regarding concerns of improper weapon, season dates, and removing antlers before meat. There are bolt action muzzleloaders that utilize a bolt action to secure the primer. Powder and projectile are still loaded through the muzzle. The Remington 700 muzzleloader is 1 of many such options. Second, date of hunt. The Ranching for Wildlife program offers special tags to landowners who fulfill a long list of requirements. (I've hunted on some of these ranches though the draw, and it's an amazing opportunity. ) The landowner or their agents (the outfitter) have latitude to sell the tags to their clients. They also can set season dates-you could hunt during the rut with a centerfire rifle, and set the rules wearing orange. Finally, removing the antlers from the field efore the meat. It's a movie. It's been edited and arranged to share the story of a hunt. Its purpose is not to provide a step by step timeline of events. Given that this is a guided hunt, the guide(s) would have been busting their butts to get the meat out to increase their tip. Since the hunt is almost certainly on private land they probably drive a side by side right up to the carcass to load and haul it out.
I upvoted you because you are correct about everything you write about. What you forgot to mention was the horrendous "music" that ruins an otherwise good video. THAT noise was improper!
Hmmm. Muzzle loader season dates for 2019 ran September 14-22. Mr. Valdez clearly states the date of his harvest as being September 10. So in addition to failing to wear the required orange he also starts his hunt 5 days early. We call this POACHING. Not hunting.
You have to wear orange in Colorado during muzzleloader season. Unless this is some big private ranch... which I'm sure it is. (Made for tv hunting) And no other hunters in sight. I'd bag an Elk every year without ATV's and out of staters running rampant everywhere.
You shot a great bull and it doesn't matter if it is private land or public land you still are required in Colorado to wear hunter orange. The next violation is taking out the antlers before taking out the meat or did you forget that part because being a trophy hunter. This is exactly why hunters have received bad publicity because of so many violations. It looks like you hunted with an outfitter and shame on them for allowing this type of behavior!!!!!
Nice bull but where is the caps and 500 sq in of solid orange above the waist boys? Here it is right out of the regs: " Law requires hunters to wear at least 500 square inches of SOLID DAYLIGHT FLUORESCENT ORANGE OR FLUORESCENT PINK material on an outer garment above the waist while hunting deer, elk, pronghorn, bear or moose with any firearm license. A fluorescent orange or pink hat or head covering, visible from all directions, is also required. This includes all muzzleloader hunters." Also, back packing a rack out like shown at the end of the video is asking to get shot at. Lot's of this kind of illegal hunting happens every year, including loading sabots in muzzleloaders which is illegal in CO but, releasing a video on it thereby documenting your illegal hunt...well that's just bold.
OBVIOUSLY YOU USED A GUIDE RIGHT , THEY FOUND IT FOR YOU RIGHT , THEY ALSO BUTCHER IT FOR YOU RIGHT , AND LET ME GUESS YOU STILL CALL YOUR SELF A HUNTER 😂 😆 😝,,,, YOUR A SHOOTER NOT A HUNTER
Muzzleloaders should be banned from hunting, it’s not ethical. You guys are living proof of that. Bad accuracy, no second shot, badly educated users, scared of recoil, not used to the weapon etc. Don’t put this on RU-vid, hunting is too important to be represented by this film.
They are traditional muzzleloader especially flintlock or percussion shooters can shoot accurately for 250yds with a scope and drop it in a shot. As for this film it sucks
Scope on a FLINTLOCK it's no longer a primitive weapon just bad taste if not ILLEGAL practice eliminates the other concerns no sabits just big bore and range limits
