Starting the Colorado Trail! Join me as I attempt to thru hike my way from Denver to Durango!
Colorado Trail | Day 1
CT Mile 0 - 16.8
📍Waterton Canyon - South Platte River
The trailhead was very quiet, I had imagined tons of hikers lining up at the Colorado Trailhead sign to have their photo taken at Wateron Canyon- but nope- it was just me, myself, & I that morning, sick to my stomach.
Never have I ever doubted myself so hard before starting a thru hike. Any hike in general. Nearly 500 miles? I didn’t even know where I was planning to camp that first night.
I met, @dr_jay_skidog early on that day & we hiked all of Segment 1 together. 16.8 miles! I backtracked 0.4 miles for a pair of sunglasses that had been in my pack- so that’s how the day was going.
Everything is green- including my sun shirt. My one and only sun shirt. Camping near the river is such a treat and I don’t even mind the slanted camping spot I’m tucked away in.
Tomorrow is a new day. Let’s go for 16 miles again. Why not?!
