It didn’t surprise me that I was last to leave camp (or so I thought), although I really tried to be up & out early that morning. It wasn’t until the JMT last summer that I started drinking coffee & now I drink it everyday- so it’s become part of my morning routine.
There’s a 10-mile waterless stretch with ‘emergency’ water at the fire station that I foolishly bypassed in hopes of filling up at the next creek. The 10-mile waterless stretch turned to 14-miles and I had only carried 1L that entire time.
Not knowing where camp would be that night, I loaded up on 3L at the next available water source. I ended up at the best campsite after a very long day. Beef stroganoff for dinner and a handful of skittles for dessert.
