The high pressure system over Utah was producing anti-cyclonic winds that were running almost exactly parallel to the Front Range in the last two days. Smoke from fires like this made it over the divide and then ran southward making for nasty air in cities like Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins. I don't think I've seen smoke this bad in Denver since the Hayman fire of 2002.

A typical summer in Colorado here lately! I am a former wildland firefighter. Toughest job in the world these days.

I was in Colorado a few months ago and this breaks my heart 😓 such a beautiful place and so many people living close together, I hope they can keep it contained. I never heard about it on the media so I figured it wasnt bad, but I wish they'd cover it more.

I noticed in the late 90s the trees dieing because of the pine beetles. I would say 20 years later the damage is horrible. In some parts.of the wooded areas 4 out of 5 trees are dead because of the pine beetle.

That sucks for the poor animals 😢😢

Thanks for covering this it's not getting much news coverage. Sadly this is long over due with an estimated 75%+ of the pine trees are dead or dying from pine beetles. The winters are not getting cold enough to kill the beetles.

My eyes are burning from the smoke here in Northern California. Plenty of Pyro Cumulonimbus clouds. Ash is like a dusting of snow over the entire area of Northern California.

dutchsince the youtube earthquake forecaster thinks some of the fires in cali are cause by volcanism and gas from the ground not just people and lightning .

We have heavy smoke haze in New Mexico. The red sunsets are absolutely spectacular.

I was in Colorado yesterday the smoke is covering everything around it even when you come into Colorado all you see is gray and you can’t even see the mountains through it. There’s also a fire ban in the mountains

Buzzard Creek if your familiar with the name In collbran past grand junction. I'm in the city unfortunately. Either way stay safe up there and God bless.

2020 will have multiple long heatwaves and fires this summer and fall but we don’t know for sure how bad it will be

As of now its not even 14% contained (Pine Gulch). This will probably be #1 acreage fire in the history of Co sadly, and Grizzly Creek fire will be coming close to CO's awesome ski slopes :-(
