Hi, I’m extreme meteorologist and storm chaser, Reed Timmer, known for embedding myself into some of the most severe weather storms and scenarios imaginable, so that I can research, report and warn others before natural disasters strike.
While most prefer to avoid the bad news that comes with bad weather, I charge towards it; intercepting tornadoes and hurricanes with my armored vehicle, the SRV Dominator, and launching trackable meteorological sensors into their strongest winds. My team has deployed probes into tornadoes using drones, small aircraft, and even rockets, gathering measurements never-before-recorded on earth. Documenting all things related to atmospheric science is my passion.
I’ve been featured on the Discovery Channel, National Geographic, Netflix, The Weather Channel, Disney, PBS, AccuWeather and more! I’ve been featured on Jay Leno’s Garage, and worked with the legendary Richard Hammond, from Top Gear & Grand Tour. It’s insane where my weather career has taken me.
I love the peaceful serene drone shots, only to then have what is obviously happening in the video screamed at us by chasers. It's much better when you mute the video.
Look at how much larger and stronger the tornado got before it disappeared into the rain cover. It likely became much more intense and violent right after their encounter
2:06:11 hey there! So at that mark, where you guys turned around was actually about a quarter mile north of my family’s cabin! If you would have went one more road south that would have been the driveway to our park (old RV park that’s been split into individual lots) I actually just got home today from up there and had a decent look at a bit of the damage if that helps! So just north of this point in the video, maybe a mile, there’s a handful of trees down but nothing crazy (I’ll add details of damage from our park at the end). Trees were showing signs of straight line wind though so I’m assuming it hadn’t touched down yet? The stretch you took along MN-11, there were some trees down but nothing crazy, but after turning south on MN-6 at that restaurant, just the other side of the Mississippi there was a solid path of trees down, didn’t look like any major house damage, and there was an RV in place with some trees on top of it, so hopefully it wasn’t anything crazy still. (Edit:this was about 3 miles north/northwest of downtown Crosby) Thats what I was able to see for damage, we heard it ended up the other side of Serpent Lake, the southeast side of Crosby, but we didn’t see any damage there. Regarding our park, 2 trees down, sounds like one lot had their lawn chairs go through the front window, and our weather station registered 62mph winds on the east side of pelican lake. Hope that’s helpful and hope Minnesota was fun! Edit: also, we weren’t up there for this but it sounds like everyone that was up there was on top of things and took cover. We don’t have a storm shelter, but we have a community building built with storm shelter standards kept in mind by a very giving person in the park. Everyone was safe 🤘
That's some impressive footage of an extremely powerful tornado. I did note the farm getting stripped by it nearby. RIP to the folks killed by this monster.
