Colossus Is Kinda Bad...

I don't necessarily think it's a bad ride, not anything of the sort, but I think it needs a major amount of improvement. Taziker is doing the retracking over the coming years, making the ride smoother than ever, and I hope it gets the Sik-type trains. Personally, I think on board audio could be used too to add a little bit more immersion and the area over all needs more theming. For me, it's a good ride, it just needs to catch up to newer iterations of the 10 Inversion model. This is coming from someone who's migraines stemmed from the ride lol. Good video!

Colossus holds the same number of people as Swarm ann Nemesis Inferno; 28. Nemesis holds 32 riders per train. Good luck believing it will be removed soon because Thorpe Park love this ride perhaps more than they should.

I hate collosus, I never queue up for it anymore and go on it because there’s no point if you just come off with a headache. It’s not enjoyable at all and feels rough literally the whole way round. And I swear like you said it’s always shut, Thorpe park really need to get rid of it

One thing I would say is Collosis has a nice off ride veiw. It crosses over and alongside the pathway. Repetitive isn't always bad, a level of consistency can be nice in a ride. From what I understand it was a record breaker regarding loops back in the day similar to Smiler. Perhaps the most likely options are a theme overhaul and different trains with the lapbars. From what I understand Hyperia is an early case of those lapbar types becoming more industry standard. I don't see them getting rid of a ride that from what I understand is currently being retracted.

The lack of theming in the park in general makes thorpe feel more like an amusment park

Missed out on colossus, it was shut all day when I went to thorpe park! After what i've heard about it though I can't say I'm too sad

I love colossus and do think it’s overhated by enthusiasts. Yes it’s rough around the edges but I think it adds to the charm. I agree that they need the lap bars instead of the OTSR. Given that it’s the ride that put Thorpe on the map it wouldn’t surprise me that they go the Nemesis route with a full re-track especially as it’s had a partial re-track already.

Yeah a retrofit with modern Intamin lap bars would be amazing

Finally someone who agrees with my opinion on Colossus! I have always felt like the only one (maybe because I’m In California) that thinks it is the worst coaster I’ve ridden.

I don’t think replacing colossus with a ride that has an 8 seat train will fix the capacity issues you refer to. There’s a reason no one is buying raptors. They make no financial sense at all for the majority of bigger parks and are a hard sell to anyone other than us enthusiasts who would love to have some in the UK.

Give me some New Art Engineering trains for Colossus! They have made shockwave smooth so they would help colossus!

UK coasters are generally crap. Colossus could have been a B&M floorless. A good layout with less inversions would have been great. Tussards were obsessed with world firsts and concepts. Belgium has better coasters than the UK.

How much of an improvement do we think new trains and restraints would make? How much of it is down to the trains and how much is the track? For my money a LOT of improvement could be made with new trains. FFS Thorpe Park replace the trains! I can't believe it would even be that expensive

The weirdest part is the trains have 28 seats which is the same as inferno so why is the capacity so shit 😭😂
