Colouring Book Review: Lost Ocean Walk through with Tips and Coloured Pages 

Johanna actually said in one of her interviews that she choose the white paper because she was hearing the opinions of her fans and that she wanted to give us something that would show the colours more true to their vibrancy rather than giving us cream coloured paper where the colours were slightly off. The only thing that the different companies around the world who publish this get to choose is how the cover looks, how the inside cover looks, and what thickness of paper they use. Also she said that the reason for the fewer two page pictures is because she was hearing a lot of people say that the binding was getting in the way and making it very hard to colour so she decided to eliminate those problems by not going straight to the edges, however since i have a copy from Canada I did realize that not every publisher followed through with that, as some of my pages do go straight to the edge of the binding.

Mine is printed in the US The paper is nice and thick, no marker bleed through and it has a removable dust cover. No complaints

Peta I have only just found you on You Tube. I am quite obsessed with coloring and at the moment have begun Lost Ocean from beginning and will do it sequentially to the end. It is the first time I've done this and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Mine was printed in China, 2013 and has the best of the qualities you mentioned. It does not have the blue page. I've used Prismacolor pencils, gel pens, pastels and diluted acrylic paint. Thanks for the advise and tutorials. As an added bonus I am a shrimpers daughter so I am truly enjoying this theme.

I have two coppies of this book because some of the pictures i love are on both sides of the same page and Im planning to decorate my craft room with them when finished. I love how you have coloured yours in! Your an ecxellent colourist! xxxxxx

Thank you for showing us the inside of this book, this is ideal for me as I never know which to choose when buying online. I love that there are editions with extra covers, which I haven't seen yet in the UK. Tfs x

The page with the multi Circles, where you suggest 'to take it slow', remind me of a colour blind test. I think it would lend itself to having a message or name formed within the pattern with the rest being background. I suspect I'm getting this book for Christmas, from the hints given, if not it will be my Boxing Day sale buy!!!! So I'm loving seeing what you've come up with as I have zippo colour choosing ability or any natural talent at pretty much anything artistic. Thankfully colour in books are now popular and I get to dabble!

Mine is made in the USA and is exactly like the one you are showing. Dust covers, quality paper.

I got this book for my 13th birthday which was 3 days ago. And I'm always afraid to use a lot of colours so. I have to improve in that.

Dear Peta... When you use what I think are soft pastels in your coloring Books...do you use some spray fixative for it not to come off on other pages?...Thank you...and thanks for your beautiful RU-vid Videos!

I just bought the US version from Amazon and my copy does not have the removable dust cover (I'm not bothered by that) but it does fold out into a page and a half spread on the front and back (it would be 3 pages total, as well as having the half page with the black background that the dust cover has. I have noticed that while the pages are still very thick, the texture is a has a bit more tooth than my copy of Secret Garden. It makes it a little more difficult to get a smooth result with pencils but it's not bad at all, just different. I would still be happy to recommend the book if someone could only get this version.

I have this book, and I'm so absolutely terrible at coloring w/ colored pencils. How do you learn how to do such complex shading and blending like that, which shows texture and shadows of leaves and such? ...Seems so effortless, I have no idea how to learn those techniques...I watch the videos of people doing the shadings, then try it myself and looks lousy...

Peta, where did you purchase your Lost Ocean book? I tried Amazon and eBay and all seem to be the USA published version only. One lady I emailed via eBay said her UK version doesn't have the aqua-turquoise colored inner cover as yours does. She said a BIN number would determine the one I'm looking for? So, where did you purchase yours?

I'm obsessed with finding the UK version of this book! Peta, you're truly my last hope and I pray you find it in your heart to respond to this strange request. Will you please provide me with the ISBN number of the Lost Ocean book? I got an email from a Random house publishing co in UK. +1dCasey I also have the US version & use Prismacolors but mine don't shadow on the other side. I wonder why this is? I checked on Amazon UK & the book they have on offer is printed in Italy. I wish I knew how to find one printed in China. As always Peta your work is very beautiful & informative!

i really love the precision of fineliners. i'm not sure if you mentioned it or not, but are the pages thick enough so that there's no bleed-through?

@1:05....Peta, did you color those fishes or did the book already have those 'pre-colored in'....like some books tend to do on a few selected pages?

I did at one time see that ISBN # but for the life of me I cannot locate it now. Does anyone have that ISBN# because I would like to purchase this book with the dust cover and the better quality paper. I took my other one back to the store already since I had not yet colored in it. This is so intricate I can't see how fine tipped markers wouldn't be the first choice of coloring tools.

And also this version which I have, the binding is sewn into the book with binding thread. The US version which also I have , doesn't look like its sewn.

Does this book or "enchanted forest" bleed through? because secret garden does sadly! do you recommend to use pencil over marker? thanks :)

I'm having a hard time locating the UK version of Lost Ocean. I've tried Amazon, eBay, various bookstores. WHERE and WHEN did u purchase your UK version? Thank you for any help or advice.

For the first picture in the book that you have beatifully colored, did you docyhexbackground first or did you colour it first and then did the background?

The backgrounds u do r chalk?

Do you think I would be able to find this book or the Enchanted Forest in my local Target or Walmart?
