Colregs, in many of the rules, refer to ‘not impeding the passage’. At several other places, there is a mention of the duty to giveway or to keep out of the way. A navigator must understand the difference between not impeding and keeping out of the way. For this, it is extremely important to understand the meaning of Rule 8(f). Capt. S.S.
