its a first for me to see that many misses in a row. the beauty of Hickok videos is that he humble enough to not edit out his missed shots.
@lancairw867
@lancairw867 7 лет назад
Eric L That's why we all like Hickok. He could easily edit out the misses but doesn't. We forget how many different types of firearms he shoots monthly and it takes time to becoming proficient with a new gun. Myself much longer than Hickok

But don't cha know? According to another well known RU-vidr Hickok45 only uses light for caliber rounds and shoots at targets he is extremely familiar with, and that is why he is an exceptional shot. I felt My I.Q. drop 10 points just listening to it. As if I had any extra points to burn to begin with.
@3ducs
@3ducs 7 лет назад
Yeah, it was on the interweb, must be true. He shoots full power rounds. Familiar target or not, 80 yards is 80 yards. The man can shoot.

Even if he loads them a little light, so what! With age comes arthritis, and joints don't take recoil as well as they used to. Shot placement is more important than load strength anyway. That other youtuber sounds pretty dumb if you ask me.

Everyone that wants the Python back needs to go buy the Cobra. Reason being, if Colt's revolver sales are good, more revolvers will likely come down the line. That's my hope anyway!

I bought the Cobra, but not to bring back the Python, but just to enjoy a Colt revolver. Yes, I do enjoy and carry the Cobra frequently. My guess is that if Colt decided to update and market the Python to the same quality as the original they would have to make too many compromises, just as Smith and Wesson has done with its "Classic" Model 19. I have an older 19 and would not consider the "Classic." It's just not the same.
@maverickmanson8971
@maverickmanson8971 5 лет назад
Cars and Guns, Murica 🇺🇸 I can appreciate your point, because I’d love to get my hands on a Python, but if we were to buy Cobras just for the sake of hoping that Colt will produce a Python, that would be a form of corporate welfare. No company deserves that. I believe in allowing the market to dictate product development.
@porkfatrulz9337
@porkfatrulz9337 5 лет назад
Maverick Manson I can see why Colt starts with the Cobra, they’re hitting the CCW market. I’m afraid the Python would probably be a mistake. With the production practices today, and corporate profit margins, a new Python would disappoint the consumer. Probably kill Colt too. Maybe get away with a new version of the Diamond Back. I just wish I still had my 2 Pythons. Ah, the stupidity of youth.

In the late 1990s, they produced the Magnum Carry, a beefed up late model Detective Special. I think it was based on the SF-IV, which seems to be what the Cobra is based upon.

I was lucky enough to get one without paying crazy above msrp prices. I can say first hand, the finish is meh, but the action is 100% Colt. Fantastic trigger and feels like an old Colt and shoots fantastic. It's a great step in the right direction for Colt.. when these things settle down price wise I'd highly advise picking one up.

I feel bad that Colt is constantly in financial trouble. It's such a great American gun maker. I really wanted one of the new 1903 Hammerless Officers models until I found out it was being made by a sub-contractor. I recall the test samples of the Cobra at SHOT Show were having reliability issues. Hopefully that was just some pre-production kinks they've since worked out. I hope Colt is tooling up to making the classic snake lines again in house and is training a new generation of master gun smiths like they one employed. I hope this isn't another sub-contractor model. I would hate to see Colt become a brand name only and all of their product offerings being farmed out to contractors, like the Century Arms business model. While I'm on the subject, why did Colt bring back a 1903 in .32 ACP? That cartridge hasn't been popular for over half a century. Why didn't think bring back the 1908 in .380 instead? Now we have the Cobra, but I suspect far more people would jump at an opportunity to own a new Python. The originals are selling for silly prices on Gun Broker these days, so the demand is there. Heck, I bet people would even jump at the opportunity to have a newly made Anaconda. A Cobra? Not so much. It seems like Colt keeps missing the mark with their products. I may have to save up for the 1903's just to show Colt some support even though I know it's not really made by Colt. I want them to survive and make a comeback, but they keep doing goofy things like the 901 rifle. They can't seem to get out of their own way sometimes.
@evanzeller3560

I agree, it’s odd they would put the cobra into production over the Python. The Python is a blatantly obvious gun the masses would clamor for if it was done well.

I would imagine Colt's pretty busy fulfilling the recent split contact with FN for new M4's for the Army as well as the contact for rifles for other countries so we should probably be happy with what they give us I personally like my new Cobra and with some luck in 20 year's I can sell it for 2,000

My first handgun was a Ruger Security 6 revolver that was basically a Colt knockoff. I sold it 30 years ago and have been looking for one ever since. I have one of these on order and cannot wait to get it. Youngsters are laughing at me for going old school wheel gun. Let's see who is laughing next time we go to the range and I don't let them shoot my old school gun. It's also nice to see I'm not the only one that scares targets by shooting all around them. I jest but that's an impressive distance with a 2.5" barrel.

hickock45, I loaded thousands of full wadcutters way back in the 70's to shoot in my S&W Model 52 target pistol. It was the only semi-auto pistol that I know of that was made specifically to shoot full wadcutters. It was an extremely accurate pistol that was guaranteed to shoot 2" or less groups at 50 yards from the factory, it came packed with a test target. Would love to see you do a video on one.

Might as well enjoy yourself in your old age! I was actually prepared not to like this revolver all that much, especially being more of a S&W guy, but I really like it. One thing about Colt, too, is that whether it's justified or not, having "Colt" on a firearm really prevents the degree of depreciation that is experienced with most other firearms. They hold their value very well. Good ammo for convincing the wives if needed. Use the word "investment" whenever you're considering another firearm. I often refer to my Colt SAA collection as my "Colt Mutual Fund."

Glad to finally see a video of a Cobra "in the wild" I planned on getting one of these when they first announced them to go with my dad's '73 Colt Trooper Mk III, but I came to my senses. I ended up getting a S&W Model 60 for $100 cheaper, and had the advantage of it being a magnum and it having a beautiful finish as compared to this ugly finish on the Colt. I haven't regretted that decision for a second. Now, if Colt will make a blued version of the Cobra in .357, I'll consider getting one

I think right now my preference for a holster carry revolver would be a Smith and Wesson Model 586 4 inch barrel. I would like to see Colt make something like that although I prefer the blued steel. You make some fine points about this revolver.

I like the way the grip wraps around the back of the handle.

Glad to hear Colt is back in the revolver game. last I heard Colt wasn't doing well financially. Can anyone shed some light on that?
