I don't think a horse is the only way to reach the stagecoach as stated. I believe you can jump from the roof the train to the roof of the stage of it is exactly alongside.
My concern is that -- without a higher player count -- with this expansion expanding the 'play area,' the players will run into each other less. The game truly shines when players are interacting on the train, not when they are running around alone.
+chuckm1961 Very valid point. If you are playing with only 3 or 4 players you barely interact sometimes, even with the shorter train. I guess I'll have to see how it works in practice. The hostages are an interesting twist.
I can't believe I hadn't watched this sooner. I love Colt Express, it is my 6th favorite game and most likely my most played game of 2016. Having said that. I highly recommend this expansion. If you play the game regularly you need this expansion. It did grow on me, I didn't like it until my 3rd play. I believe there are 3 minor rule mistakes Tom gives in this video, but hopefully folks understand this is an overview not a "how to play" video. I am curious if Tom still owns this game. It saddens me that a couple months back Sam decided he won't play this game again, due to the fact it is not friendly to big fingers. I recommend playing on a 2D surface for big fingers instead of the 3D train, or having someone move your pieces for you.
+gavin fisher exactly this. It is such an easy game to get into and get even non-gamers to play around a bit. It seems this expansion adds too much stuff that would make it un-new-player-friendly. Was looking forward to this :(
+Xahendir Stras Ok point taken. Yet, this looks like it takes the simple streamlined basegame and adds a bunch of stuff simply for the benefit of adding more stuff. I guess I'll skip this expansion.
From what I learned in this video I think my favorite mechanic would be the lightning cards, maybe I'd even include them to the base game always, even if not using the other parts of the expansion
