At 63yrs old I do not remember a time when so many high dollar products are having so many low dollar product problems. It’s not just guns, but cars and tools and everything
It truly is and because of that it makes you have to work harder to care yourself. You kinda get this attitude of hey if they don’t care I don’t care and you have to fight back against that
My 3" Python has never had a single issue with it. Smooth as silk and shoots beautifully. I think we live in a day and age where even the most high end of products can still suffer from QC issues. It's sad, but it's no different with any other high end firearms brands. Hell S&W still has canted barrel issues and dovetail sight problems coming out from their PC shop. So it's everyone nowadays. I love my 3" Python, it's my current CCW and I trust it emphatically.
I mean, honestly I’m glad I was able to get it fixed for relatively cheap and not have to send it back. Potentially damaging it along the way and I’m excited to get back out to the range with it and convince myself that it is dependable because although I will not conceal carry it, I certainly can see, certain circumstances where it would be beneficial to have. I will be doing some follow up videos for sure.
This is all great to hear! I was really disappointed when I first heard about the problems you were having, but reading this thread, I have renewed hope! I’ve wanted this revolver for a long time!
I will hopefully be out at the range with it again tomorrow and I have some heavy stuff to run through it. I hope to run about 250 rounds of .357 and .38 special through it at which time I will no more. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
The problem isn't that the parts are MIM. When the part is MIMed to spec, it's fine. Spec is spec. The problem is insufficient quality inspections and failing to catch out of spec parts before they're installed.
This seems to be a problem with all American made revolvers. There was a time, not too long ago, when revolvers were the epitome of craftsmanship. But with the popularization of polymer framed autos, revolver manufacturers have taken to cutting corners to keep prices low enough to compete with automatics. As a result, buying a revolver these days is a bit like playing Russian roulette; it may not bang, it may not. If you want that Old World craftsmanship, you have to buy your revolver from the Old World; get a Manurhin from Beretta or a German Spohr. No MIM, classic handfitting, functioning pieces of art, with the price tag to match. It's disappointing that we have gotten to this point, but revolvers have become status symbols. No longer is a revolver more simple and reliable by default, the standard defensive option. Nope. If that is what you want, spend $600 on a Glock. Hell, $400 on a PSA Dagger that will run better than any revolver costing 3x as much. To get a decent revolver now requires investing thousands in European manufacturing.
It is sad but true unfortunately. I’ve always had old timers tell me that revolvers were simple, solid and the most reliable. That hasn’t been my experience sadly. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Revolvers have never been simple. There's always been more moving parts and tighter tolerances on revolvers. The new Pythons are amazing, but unfortunately some turds make it out the door from all manufactures.
@Executioner_of_Time that’s true I like the gun a lot and said as much during my follow up review. Tanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I truly appreciate your concern and I appreciate you watching and commenting. So when I say this take it as a matter of my personal fact and not a jab at you or your comment. It continues to blow my mind that people will click on a gun video and 55% of the comments will have nothing to do with weight, trigger function, accuracy, reliability or feel in the hand but something personal about us. What we are wearing, our accent, eye protection, the type of ear protection we have choose to wear, throwing casings on the ground, our vehicles, we divorced our sister to marry our cousin and on and on it goes. We don’t get to the range often so when we go we are typically filming all day. I understand the optics of it and how that I may be promoting bad habits, but I’ve suffered from cluster headaches and debilitating migraines since I was about 19. Sometimes they put me in the hospital. I’ve learned most of the triggers like when barometric pressure changes etc. Wearing glasses or sunglasses sometimes in a matter of minutes but certainly after a long day can trigger a migraine and often does. We had been filming a lot that day and I could tell the glasses were getting ready to cause a problem so I felt since I was shooting a revolver that wasn’t slinging shell casing la I’d be safer. I’ve been shooting for 30 years and I only wear eye protection 30% of the time and typically that’s only if I’m shooting suppressed. I’ve literally NEVER had anything hit my eye or get into my eyes in the period of time so please forgive me if I have offended anyone by not wearing glasses. Other than that how do you feel about the gun?
I bought one of these and have ran at least 1,000 rounds through it…. Not one problem. Eats .38 specials like candy and .357 as well. Hell, should have just sent it back to Colt. I have S&Ws with 3 and 4 inch barrels. Old ones with none of the mim parts, and newer ones with mim parts. All are good shooters, 629s, 686s, 625, etc. Had a few issues, but not many. Usually ammo related. Some light strikes on reloads….. and some with cheap ammo - case in point Anguilla. Sorry to hear about your piece.
My recent S&W revolvers have been disappointing. QC is failing. I just ordered a S&W 317 Kit gun…hopefully it had good QC. S&W Ultimate Carry June 2024 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NAwXLtvTAgs.html
Hi. Nice video. It’s always disappointing to pay good money for a gun and then have it not function correctly. Then you have to decide if you go through the trouble of mailing it back to the manufacturer and hope they fix it, take it to a gunsmith and pay for the repairs yourself, or just live with it. Sounds like it worked out well for you.
It was the best outcome for sure during what looked like the worse possible outcome while at the range. Thanks for watching and hey make sure you subscribe if you haven’t already
You are referring to the Hand and the Hand on the new python is not MIM . It’s barstock . Honestly, according to an R&D engineer at Colt , only 3-4 minor parts are MIM . The rest of the internals are barstock
Not at all true that’s a lie you are telling yourself because you want to be so loyal to a brand you can’t except flaws. I have pictures off the part and the marking on it indicating that it’s a MIM part. Follow us on Facebook and I’ll message you said picture. Offer me your proof to the contrary please
no eye protection? on film?? come on man! not having eye protection is right up there with being proud of not having any teeth. you are better than that. I hope.
It’s crazy to me that people watch gun videos and talk about everything but the guns. It’s my body, my eyes and real life train as you would encounter must not apply here because I’m not going to tell a criminal hold on one second I need to grab my PPE. P.S. I have every single one of my teeth including wisdoms. Bye now
@@GSquaredTactical old school Had safety beaten into me since as far back as I can remember I’m a RO at the local club I’ve seen a ton of silly stuff that resulted in serious bodies harm. At the club and on the job. To each his own. But consider that children and young people are watching you for guidance How would you feel if a young person was injured by following your lead?
Oh look yall I don’t like what someone said about a brand I like or maybe have purchased so I’m going to discredit what you can clearly see happening on camera because he isn’t wearing eye protection and because he didn’t want to send his $1400 gun back in the mail that could be fixed for $30. Yawn and move along pal no one cares what you got to say.
Apparently you care…. Love the 12 year old butt hurt response. Another yokel with a go pro thinks he’s a gun pro reviewer. Yuck yuck goober, now go back to the holler and try not to shoot your eye out.
Ok, Like a lot of people I have admired Colt since a kid. I have owned the original Colt Python & Anaconda. They were QUALITY, and they did shoot/function like a dream. I bought a .45 Combat Commander in the early 90's. The frame edges/bevels you could shave with, accuracy was close to side of barn. Colt pretty much thru the years has not impressed me at all. They seem to really live off their name. There are too many other quality firearms out there today rather than play hit and miss with Colt.
Well, there is another dream out the door! The colt python was my dream revolver as I usually don’t spend that kind of money on a handgun and I have up until about right now been a big fan of Colt. Honestly, when it comes to things like this, I will sometimes overlook it. Depending on the kind of customer service I get. If the customer service is as bad as the product no way I will buy.
Well it has been fixed and I can’t wait to get out to the range again to see how much it can take now that it’s been “repaired.” My reviews to come. Thanks for watching and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
You know, if Tisas can make their 1911s with no MIM parts without a noticeable increase in price, Colt can as well. It’s a choice to use MIM so it’s cheaper for them.
He said it was possible with some use it would work itself out but .357 isn’t cheap I figured $34 was cheaper then 250 rounds of ammo. Thanks for watching and for commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you have not already.
I have a King Cobra that I’ve fired about 5,000 rounds out of and I had no problem with. It is my carry and it’s lite at only 28 ounces and I feel protected
I’m going to take this one back to the range after the gun smith fixed it and make sure but I feel I can trust it now. Time will tell. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already. P.S. we vacation every thanksgiving at MB as we are in Gaston County North Carolina. Have good friends down at Coastal Iron in Murrels Inlet formerly Coastal Indian Motorcycle.
Just got a 2024 blued python in 6”, kept having what I called “hang ups”. Every so often in single action, it would just completely lock up. Pulled the trigger and the hammer wouldn’t drop. Really disappointing, especially for the price.
Absolutely sounds like the same issue. Now that I know what it is if it ever happens again it’s super easy to remove the arm and shave a little material off of it. Thanks for watching and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
So you basically got the hand fitted new model Python with a better single action trigger than most others out there now, for merely additional $30 buck!
Aparently there were issues with the 2000 release.i guess crown issues etc light strike.was going to buy one decided to wait for 2023+ releases.farting around havent cracked a wallet yet .heard nothing about new / new releases.got a 1980/81 classic blue finish 8" barrel.try not to shoot it much. To valuable.have other pistols i beat up on.s&w .357 airlite.truck gun,ya know.tough little pistol.
Taurus' Executive line costs a half to a third of a Colt Python; buttery smooth triggers, and they test fire them before they are shipped out... Typical of overpriced American crap. The US can't seem to manufacture anything quality anymore, even when it costs two to three times more. Just sad the lack of pride in QC, even when they are owned by a European parent company (Czech CZ)...
You know honestly with CZ being my favorite brand it sadness me that it’s a bad reflection on CZ because they have also made top notch stuff. Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
GREAT video, thanks for taking the time to spell this out for us. I have one myself, it works fine, but I know what to look for now if I do experience what you did. Beautiful firearm!
For the record, I’ve found Colt’s customer service to be great. I’ve sent a couple of guns back for scratches and they always paid shipping both ways and were super easy to work with.
I’m sure they are I just didn’t want to deal with sending my brand new $1400 gun back so it was worth the $30 to get it fixed and the see first hand the issue for the review. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
It’s a stupid thing and speaks to quality but sadly it’s super common even my Rugers do it. If there’s no function problems I wouldn’t worry about it or buy a aftermarket one from Brownells
I've had so many firearms in my long lifetime, a blessing. any manufacturer of firearms regardless of price range will have some to slip out of the factory needing more detail to quality. i recently bought a revolver new with a problem so simple that a trip to the hardware store and a few minutes problem cured. under warranty if i couldn't fix it back to the factory
As much as I like Colt, every gun I’ve ever had trouble with dating back to 1976 has been of that brand. Glad to hear they are better with customer service cause back in the early 80’s I waited nearly a yr to get my Woodsman back. It was fixed….temporarily. So…. I never sent another one back since. When I had trouble with my brand new special edition Colt Kodiak, I too went to a local gunsmith. Moral of the story, their QC and service problems aren’t anything new. Ignore the trolls who pick on you. It’s your eyes and everyone flinches once in awhile. I get annoyed with people who troll on the presenters who don’t demonstrate safety checks too. None of their damn business…
Did you watch the entire video I explained what my local gun smith done to fix the problem. It was the Paul/arm. It’s been repaired and follow up coming soon. Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I did years ago but in the last 5 years or so they’ve been flawless for me. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
My gunsmith said it’s call different things by different manufacturers. His said it’s called an arm or pawl I guess some may call it a hand lol. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
@@crippleguy415 I have one of each. The main issue that irked me with the new one is the cheap ass rear sight that wriggles. The sights on the old one are solid. So I put another 100 bucks into it and installed the Wilson combat sight. It’s solid and easy to install but gotta wonder if they conspired with Colt on that deal. Another thing I replaced on the new one was the grips. I didn’t care for the factory ones. Function has been ok but I’m not nearly so impressed with the action everybody else seem to be. The single action is 2 plus pounds heavier and the double action is distinctly heavier on one chamber. So… yea I’m with you. The old ones are a little nicer. But.. I only shoot 38 specials in my old one.
Some people just prefer a 1911 over other forms, that striker fire will just put something on you! Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven't already
No sir a local gun smith fixed it for $35 because I didn’t want to deal with the hassles. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already

@harper8320 absolutely it could be because it happened on a live round good thing that I shoot all of my guns before deciding to carry them lol. Thanks for watching and for commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you have not already.
I like smith and Ruger, but to date my favorite were my BFR’s and one freedom arms. Thanks guys for watching and we hope you decide to throw us your support by subscribing. Thanks again
