You've got a pretty good hold on the history of US Military handguns in the late 1800's. Those were a time of rapid change, but the basics of some kind of S/A cartridge revolver, then a D/A cartridge revolver, a couple of experiments with semi-auto's before finally settling on the 1911 covers the basics. I've got the same revolver you have, except mine is in "blue." Mine also has an UGLY "warning" on the right side of the barrel that just detracts from the look of look of the gun. That doesn't seem to have been on your gun, or at least I didn't see it, and you didn't mention it. I've found a black sharpie marker covers it on the "blue" pretty well. It's still ugly, but it's better than the warning. I've got several of these "replica BB guns" now. While I have fired the Colt a few times, for me they're mostly non-firing replica's of actual guns I've wanted, but never owned for one reason or the other. They might not be the "real thing" but they're not bad. I just wish something like these had been available when I was a kid prowling around the woods and waters of central Virginia in the 50's and 60's. Good video. I bought the same yesterday I got pellets and BBs. Obviously I got the bb version but the hole allows pellets too. Should I try or not? And one more question did you have any issues with the gun?
@@jimmistziavaras2389 honestly I’ve never tried so couldn’t advise either way. Can I just ask out of interest, if you wanted to shoot pellets, why not buy the pellet version?
@@airgunreplicas77 Yes they are a great working copy. There is a video out there that addresses a mod to those white plastic grips {if interested?] This person has transformed those plastic grips into realistic looking ivory bone grips using, brown leather dye and, a pin to scratch marks on the grips and rub on the brown leather dye. The results are amazing.
The trigger is offset to one side for some reason likely to do with the gas seals, it makes it harder to spin the gun because its off balance. The handles are a lot longer than a real Colts which are surprisingly short, the grip/ handles are longer because of the co2 bulb and seals again. I hate the white plastic, they would have been better done marle coloured. You can make the trigger click 4 times by depressing the trigger and pushing the hammer forward then pullling it back, you'll get the C.. O.. L.. T clicks, but don't do it with a co2 bulb in as it will release the co2 quickly.
Were can I get one in a pack deal an one that has co2 an your gun an bbs an shells an ready 2 go in .177. Let me no but I want one that shoots BB an pellets
I’d look at the Crosman Sheridan Cowboy. It’s a replica of the Remington 1875. Comes with 6 pellet shells and 6 bb shells. Not exactly like the Colt SAA but a similar type of pistol and has nickel finish with fake ivory grips too. You’ll have to buy co2 and ammo separately though I think.
I'd have to say no mate. This is a 4.5mm bb pistol. I'd only recommend a pellet pistol for vermin, and only small vermin at that. I think you'd be better off with a non-replica along the lines of the Crosman 2240 in .22 cal but I'm not an expert as I'm a plinker rather than a hunter. I just don't think the Colt would have enough power for a clean/humane dispatch. I can't comment on the pellet version though as I've never had my hands on one.
Taking it apart should have been easy as on the real ones theres a push button and you pull out the cylinder pin and out it pops, they actually have this feature on the Crosman 1875 Remington or Cowboy as its sometimes called, but taking the Umarex cylinder out is quite fiddly and involves, taking the whole of one side off , removing springs and levers and keeping the loading gate open, so unless you are very good at stuff like that and know what you're doing l would leave it alone or to a pro gunsmith if it needs repair.
