Scenes from Columb Barracks Mullingar from over the years. Closing on 28th March 2012. Many thanks to Jack the Stroller for the Glen footage and whoever took the seventies clip.

A fitting tribute to those who share the history of Columb Barracks in Mullingar. A lovely video portraying the heart and soul of all those who have served. Moved me to tears... God Bless All as the page is turned and and a new chapter is written. Thank you for sharing.

Scenes from the Glen are priceless. Soldiering was tough in those days regardless if you were regular or reserve. Compared to them we had it handy. Many's the happy camp I spent in Columb Barracks since my first there in 1979. Many's the woeful hangover I suffered there too. We were always made welcome, were well fed & watered. What more could an Artillery Reservist ask for, except more ammo. This closure is a casualty too far. End Of Mission, Regiments Rest. Tommy Shaughnessy(retd) 1 Bty 54 FAR

Very sad, I was 20th Bty 4th FAR, was some fun years, off to the Glen one year and then off to Fort Dunree(Inish Owen) really sad to see the Barracks close, in my day the canteen was considered one of thye best in the country, meal on Sunday wasn't bad at all. Times move on I guess, memories will live forever, Slainte from Alan in Miami, Florida
