The towering cliffs and narrow coulees along the Columbia River in central Washington State were formed by many cycles of massive volcanic lava flows and glaciation followed by catastrophic flooding. Sand dunes are common among the basalt rock cliffs and depressions where desert animals make their homes. Today this area is a great place to explore and enjoy a pristine desert landscape.

What a beautiful and majestic quick tour of a big reservoir on the Columbia. It looked like a bird or hawk decided to take a closer look at your drone. I totally agree that the time lapse photos of the clouds are magical. Another great HikeArt production.

This is so wonderful to see. Born and raised in Tri-Cities. Learned a bit about the history of the Opening of the Northwest when Lewis and Clark traveled through and the Natives they became to know. When I listen to Medwin Goodall his music inspires me to learn even more. With your videos of Eastern Washington and his music would be a perfect fit. Thank you so much for all you do and I hope you continue to show the world the beautiful part of the Northwest.

Glad you enjoyed it! I wish I could use Medwin Goodall's music, but unfortunately RU-vid doesn't let me use copyrighted music.

Is there enough water in the Columbia River to fill Lake Mead back up without harming anything?

Pure enjoyment, as always. Of course, I realize that the so-called Columbia River should really be called the Columbia Lakes, but I was trying hard to imagine how the River looked when it was wild and free. And so much Basalt, all laid down in only 500,000 years! How high were the lava fountains and how long? And how could the flows run so far while remaining so hot? And then that one shot where your group was climbing the flood deposit left by the Missoula Floods, with your footfalls denting the surface for the first time in millennia. Yes. I loved this video a lot!
