I have lived on 3 continents. One thing most Westerners don't appreciate is that all this public disrespect and trashing of your country by foreign visitors is not tolerated ANYWHERE else on earth. I worked in Dubai. You can - and people do - get arrested and then deported the same DAY for flagrant disrespect of the country. Just recently an Asian Tik Toker wore traditional UAE garb and started mocking and insulting Emirates. He was INSTANTLY arrested, pit in jail no bond until he came up with the money at which point he was driven to the airport, banned for life and put on a plane. Thailand is a very welcoming and tolerant culture but there too if you as a foreigner step over a red line of disrespect to the country, you are toast. They freely hand out visa bans.

As a person with +50 years of time as an educator with experience at all levels from pre-school to graduate schools, I suggest a somewhat related yet different type of FAILURE. I will not mince words or hold back on the vitriol. Soft-headed, soft-minded, weak-willed uneducated brats have infiltrated the upper echelons of school administrations. The N.E.A. is the main culprit. There is no emphasis on growth, change, and responsibility for one's actions that is epidemic in our educational system. Educational institutions at all levels have become social clubs that pander to the entertainment, emotional and personal "needs" of the children who attend. My estimate is that +90% of our educational "leaders" should be back in first grade themselves ! Their irresponsibility is the stuff of legend ! People should take seriously what the character Wil Macavoy in NEWSROOM says when he states that AMERICA IS NOT THE GREATEST NATION IN THE WORLD ANY MORE.
