What is the Columbus, Ohio Population anyway? Surprisingly large and plenty of room to expand. Where are they moving from and why are they moving here? Check it.

After growing up in Central Ohio, the natural progression is to move to Columbus, but this was a very different town in the early 2000s. After surviving the Great Recession, Columbus has been on an absolute tear. While the recession was rough, we tended to fare better than many other cities partially due to the diverse amount of employers in the area. That, along with a focus on redevelopment of areas close to Downtown, population growth and the relatively cheap cost of living have helped buoy the Central Ohio area.
It doesn't seem that long ago in 2009 when residents were stoked to get Yuengling Lager to the area. Fast forward a short decade and today we have over 50 local breweries and our own "Ale Trail". That is just one of the fantastic changes.
Leaving for ten years, I left more or less a cow town and returned to a City bustling with boutique shops, coffee houses and restaurants, a renewed focus on fitness and somehow it seemed sunnier. In fact, it was such a cool city that we decided to stay.

All of them lists you've talked about are what got me looking into Columbus. The lists on cities with great job markets, top cities to move to, cost of living lists, etc. Them are what got me searching online about Columbus, and it is on a short list of cities that I am looking into moving to if I decide to move....which I very well may as I will be graduating with my Master's degree within a year and a half. Also, my graduate program is completely online, so I can complete it wherever I want to live. So if I can land a job there, I can move there and complete my degree.

Love it, thank you Brad! I think you could find a job here regardless of your career. Other will no doubt counter my opinion, but everywhere I look, I see opportunity.

[Applause] Couple of thoughts though. My personal feeling is that if Columbus is going to avoid the issues gripping fast-growing cities like Dallas and Austin they it needs to start now to get a plan for effective mass transit. Light Rail would be a start but that still is subject to traffic issues. They also need to find a way to make the city more walkable.

The mass transit thing is definitely an issue for Columbus. The bike path along the Olentangy does help some but not enough. There is bussing, but not enough.
